Might be more interesting to post this here instead of the June SRPG thread... But I have to say, SRPG's are perfect for incremental and consistent sessions. I'm about 9 hours into Front Mission 1 and that's purely from doing one mission a day, easy to get in on work nights sometimes too. I rag on this genre being 100% menu driven from time to time, but I have to say there's a positive to that in this regard. Easy to know when to stop in these. Of course... these battles can still take like an hour and my patience can be thin with SPRG's, losing a mission can be rage inducing.

SRPG's are perfect for incremental and consistent sessions. Doubly so in portable form, where the games were designed with pick-up and put-down gameplay in mind. For example, in Luminous Arc you can save whenever you want, even during battle. And I haven't played a battle yet that was longer than 20 minutes.

Even Fire Emblem (the GBA ones, at the very least) saves after every turn, which is a double-edged sword for sure.

It is hard for me to play long rpgs anymore. With three kids, full time job, etc. I try to play whenever I can though and just make a little progress

I think the DS/PSP/3DS/Vita have been major blessings for busy adults when it comes to being able to finish RPGs. Especially the DS/3DS, just flip the thing shut when you have to stop, then flip it open and it's back to the goodness.

I've wanting to get a 3DS so I can play the 3DS Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time. I think I got that Mario super star game on GBA. I should fire it up some night.

I think Majora's Mask 3D (digital) finally got a price drop down to $19.99, so I want to get that version someday now too for a replay.
Ocarina of Time 3D is fantastic, I played it just last year and loved it all over again. The quality of life improvements with the 3DS version was excellent too.

I've wanting to get a 3DS so I can play the 3DS Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time. From all I've read, those are both solid investments. I own both in my 3DS library as well. Ocarina was a gift (I'd already beaten the N64 version anyway), but I've never played Majora's Mask. Majora has to be one of, if not the most divisive entries in the series.

Back when this forum started I said I'd play Ocarina of Time on 3DS and try to make the game click. To finally see what everyone else sees in it.
I still have not. It sits on the shelf emanating an evil aura, causing physical pain if I dare approach. One day I'll be ready to grab it by the throat and end its miserable existence. One day.
