a little sad it doesn't have a official sequel It kinda sorta got one: Maybe I should check out Four Swords this month too. I bought it back in 2006 or 2007, have never even booted it up. Huh, I wonder how I missed that one. Anyways, I'm starting that one as when I put in my Mega Man Legends disc in, my PlayStation give audio, but no video. And no amount of cleaning fixed it. If I wasn't strapped for time I'd open it up...

Welp, that's when you go to emulation. But hopefully it's just your cable.

Hmm, the Mega Man Legends and Tron Bonne games are all up on PSN for the PS3 if that's an option for anyone.

The unfortunate thing with the first game is that the first town slows to a crawl on PSP/PS3. Something weird with how they're emulating. It's mostly fine, though.

Another fighting game done: it's Double Dragon on the Neo Geo. Oooooof, the game gets really hard. Maybe I just suck. Maybe Billy sucks. But I had to batter at it for quite some time. Funnily enough, I had a harder time with the penultimate boss than I did with the final, but the final was a bunch of garbage, too. There is absolutely no question the game is reading your inputs and countering. I hate it when they do that - you have a good move set up to apply pressure and they immediately counter with a move that whacks you from across the screen. Ugh.
Anyway, it's still a solid-looking and feeling fighter, so it gets at least a 6.5. Maybe a 7. Yeah, probably a 7, it's still a good game, but doesn't really stand out from the pack, either.

Huh, I wonder how I missed that one. It released during a flurry of other high profile 3DS releases, certainly understandable if you missed it. This weekend I bothered to get my GameCube setup with Four Swords, tested to be sure it worked. I hope to start playing the game Monday night. This weekend my video gaming was restricted to co-op with Champions of Norrath. But that game itself is a spin-off from the EverQuest MMORPG. So it still counts! Well, there's always the PC version (if you don't want to emulate the PS1/N64 version). It's a fantastic game, I hope you get to experience it this month.

I didn't find it so hard, and I'm not that experienced (or good) at 2D fighters. It's a lot easier than SNK's own Neo Geo fighters, for one thing. It's also pretty good. I'd say 7.5. I like it better than Technos' other fighter, Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer, which I could never get into at all. Kinda unfortunate that Technos' last games weren't all that good (that and Shadow Force).

Wonder if I was playing on different settings? I was on the MiSTer, using the arcade settings at Level-4 difficulty. I don't know what the default is in MAME.

I am probably the biggest Mega Man fan here.
I saw this game, this box art, at rental stores a million times growing up.
Never rented it...
20 some whatever years later, after spending 20 some minutes suffering through half of an Exhibition run... I'm glad I never rented this game as kid.
Terrible! They didn't even get to work the same sound samples/drivers as the other SNES Mega Man games, lol. Couldn't even get the music right.

Default is likely the same, but maybe you didn't make use of all the moves and mechanics at your disposal? Billy and Jimmy can turn into a powered-up version when their special gauge is full, for example. The AI tends to become a lot more aggressive when you do that, but it's still a big boost.
