What makes this interesting is that Sega reprogrammed a lot of games back in the 8/16-bit era. Ghouls 'N Ghosts comes to mind, as does Strider. I don't plan on hitting up either of those, though.

I agree, it'd be interesting to see differences SEGA's in-house produced ports of third party IPs accomplished. Though I plan to hit up first party IP stuff that SEGA created/developed themselves, personally.

Yeah, I figure that's what I'll be doing, too. Just gotta figure out exactly what appeals right now - probably not Game Gear/Master System, though, since I went to town on those systems in prior months.

probably not Game Gear/Master System, though, since I went to town on those systems in prior months. Keep in mind, SEGA (or I should say Sega in this instance) has been developing first party games for third party platforms for over two decades now. So if you reach back post-Dreamcast but pre-2011, that 2000-2010 era has you hitting up GBA, GameCube, PS2, PSP, DS, PS3, 360, and Wii Sega developed games.

Give me some recs.
I'll leave it at that so the sky is the limit I guess, but the broadness is making it tricky for me to think of some ideas.

I hear that there's this "Sanic" character that has some pretty good games (and some bad ones, too).
In all seriousness, the GBA Sonic games are good. I liked Ranger X when I played it last year. And while they're not developed by Sega in some cases (mostly Treasure), I like Light Crusader, Astro Boy: Omega Factor (Sega AM3 was involved), and Gunstar Super Heroes.

ESWAT - Been meaning to check this one out with how often it gets talked about here. Mystic Defender - Think I've played this... the name is super memorable at least. Hmm. Jewel Master - This definitely looks intriguing. Alien Storm - Might have played this on some compilation at some point. Ristar - Legendary. Almost replayed it for Sarge's month. This might be another good excuse heh. Golden Axe - Grew up on these and always had a soft spot for the trilogy, even if they seem a little average in retrospect. Sonic Advance - Think I played one of these and it was okay. Touch & Roll - Could be cool. Virtua Fighter 4 Evo - Played some of this earlier this year and it's fantastic. Think I might like it more than 5. Skies of Arcadia - Always hear about this one. Looks cool. Blood Will Tell - Can't forget that cover, or those prices! Seems like something I'd dig. Valkyrie Chronicles - Own the PS4 remaster. Watched a friend play some of the original and it looked amazing.

In all seriousness, the GBA Sonic games are good. Just keep in mind, not all of them were developed by Sega.
