I reviewed that one on the last page in November. I'll have to revoke my 9/10 now. It's more like a 7/10 for me.
8bitdo Bluetooth Ultimate 2.4ghz
+ Great build quality, textured grip like the Series X controllers (once you use a new controller with this, it's noticeably amazing)
+ Triggers feel fantastic
+ Hall effect joysticks
+ Excellent d-pad per usual with 8bitdo
+ 2.4ghz mode works great
- Using the d-pad isn't ergonomically comfortable to me.
- The joysticks feels off too, they're very "low" to the controller shell. I tried some grips but could never really get to a point of saying the controller felt "right" or great
- More of a rounded and samller design than you'd expect. For my big hands, this controller does not feel nearly as great as the Xbox controllers, the Switch Pro, and Gulikit
- The face buttons are rounded, small, and soft. Not very tactile, they don't feel good
It's become my 3rd choice for PC gaming. I'm not sure when exactly I'd use it now, maybe just purely for FPS's. But again, something about the grip and joysticks is a bit odd.
#2 would be the Pro 2, I found myself going back to this one when I replayed Dark Souls II-III last year, etc. Feels way better:
www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Bluetooth-Controller-Android-Raspberry-Classic/dp/B08XY8SK9B/
+ Everything, as long as you like the Dualshock 4 style. I don't prefer this style for FPS's, but everything else is good to me
- D-pad doesn't feel great for long sessions to me personally, so still might not be the idea sidescroller controller to me
+ Same Hall effect tech that 8bitdo uses
+ Triggers, joysticks (length, size, etc), and the face buttons, all feel amazing. D-pad I haven't used full time in a game yet, but it feels excellent too. So I can't tell yet by precision, but by feel I love it.
+ Ergonomically, right on par with the bulky controllers I prefer. Feels very much like the Series X and Switch Pro. Better joysticks than both and should last me for years.
- The shell feels a little cheaper than 8bitdo and Xbox stuff, no textured grip either
- The unique face buttons are awkward and not great, but a big deal
- The L and R buttons are very "clicky" kind of odd
Overall though, been loving this controller and it should hopefully last me for years, unlike the Series X controller I used for PC. Which was a damn shame, because that controller shell wise, is A+. D-pad, joysticks, triggers, everything is amazing, but the cheap ass controller drift will make you regret that purchase pretty fast. So I hope these magnetic hall effect joysticks popping up now are legit. I'm not interested in a "subscription" for $70 controllers.
But yeah, used the Gulikit for Dead Space Remake and RE4 Remake this year. Feels amazing..
On a side note, I've enjoyed PS4 gaming more again lately thanks to this grip/shell. It makes the controller feel a bit bulkier, which is a plus to me. Long sessions of PS4 gaming would give my hands a cramp sometimes in the past, but not anymore with this. My 120 some hours on DQ11 can verify that this controller jacket worked nicely.
There's your update in Xeo's Gaming Controllers Bonanza.
