Just finished off Predator 2 on SMS. It was a little glitchy on the MiSTer, probably because it's a PAL game but running in NTSC configuration. Anyway, it's serviceable, but nothing special. On the lower end of the spectrum of overhead shooters - I'd probably give it a 4/10. It's just too simple and repetitive to really give a higher rating.

Dang! A 4/10 from you sounds like dropping a cartridge into molten lava.
I'm not sure where I'll go after MM6. This kind of got me in the NES groove and fear not, other stuff I plan to hit up these months should be new material... aside from the idea to replay Zelda 1 as well. Seriously think it's been like ~10-15 years since I last beat that one. I know what to expect in ways but I kind of wonder how far and how many items I can get on my own. I could get pretty far as a kid but even then, I never really knew how to get some of the better swords (graveyard? something...) or where some vital breakable walls are. Who knows, might just be a side game to chip away at.
Still going to hit up some SMS stuff too.

not sure where I'll go after MM6 Well there's always more MM... For real though lots of good action-platformers / action-adventures on SMS. Given Zillion 2 a shot.

The one NES side-scroller I'll recommend if you haven't played it (you might have) is Vice: Project Doom. Really solid.

Ohhh, homebrew haha.
Still to this day, I can't stomach the Wily Wars on Genesis. You can only shoot two shots per screen instead of three. Beyond that, it just looks, sounds, and plays so WRONG. I really wish Capcom made an exclusive X styled game for the Genesis instead.
EDIT: toei: I've beaten it! Great stuff.

Mega Man 3 is a heeeeell no for me. The disgusting slowdowns every two screens, the sterile, uninspired level and enemy designs (you're fighting literal floating screws? Everything's a chunk of metal in this game), the annoying habit of placing flying enemies (which is like half of them) just out of range so that you can only hit them when they're at the very lowest in their flying pattern, because you can't shoot up, exactly like the smaller enemies you couldn't crouch to hit in MM2 - clearly someone at Capcom though making you feel handicapped was the height of action game design - Mega Man's clunky, heavy-feeling jumps, I like nothing about it. Say what you will, at least I tried. You would have to pay me to stick with any of those games to the end. Serious offer: paypal me 3000$USD and I will record my playthrough and even write a review where I give the game 12/10.

^Yes, giving clear and precise reasons as to why you don't like some sacred cow is totally crying like a bitch. Interestingly, your very own image of a bitch is Mega Man.

Nah, it was meant as a (lame) joke. The joke being your harsh criticism destroyed Mega Man's feelings (hence he is the character crying in the image). Not that YOU are supposed to be Mega Man in that image. I'm used to you having very different reactions to sacred cows than most players. Not that I'm crazy about MM3 either. It's a 7.5/10 for me. But if it's a 12/10 for Xeogred fair enough.
