Pretty sure I've posted this one before, but it came up in the mix and I had to throw it out there again.

Do you want to hear what Metroid's "Brinstar" theme sounds like on a Sega Genesis? Of course you do:

anayo: Bask in this if you haven't:
In the right timeline, Capcom would have made "Mega Man Zeta" or something unique to the Genesis like Konami did Hard Corps and CV Bloodlines. But instead... we got the freaking terrible Wily Wars.

I think he did this for what is supposed to be a Genesis port of the game. And yes, it's absolutely fantastic.

Flying Battery Zone sounds pretty okay as a SNES composition! Of course it's not as good as the Genesis original, but if this was a thing that came out back in the day, I'd have accepted it.
It sounds even better to me on the GBA, which is surprising since today the GBA isn't looked back on so fondly for its sound.

I bet I posted these at some point... but rediscovering them again tonight was a treat. Best tunes in DN3D!

Master Boot Record is hands down my favorite artist operating in the the chiptune milieu. His originals are great but a lot of my favorite tracks are (naturally) his video game music arrangements. He brings a real 'heaviness' and solid compositional sense to his music. Recommended if you're at all interested in this sort of thing (as well as his Keygen Church side project) Here's a link to a much longer playlist of his video game covers.
