Some games potentially worth checking out in these videos. Silent Bomber is one that immediately jumps to mind - I finally finished up that one and it's a lot cooler than you'd think.

That is one on my list for this CR. From what I've played of it in the past, it's quite good indeed. I just never got around to finishing it. I also recently re-sampled Blaster Master: Blasting Again, and it was better than I remembered. At 11 hours (HLTB) could be a bit daunting, though.

Yeah, while my plan is Brave Fencer Musashi, I may want to pick something a bit shorter. Stellar Assault SS and Bulk Slash look like they'd be fun shorter games.

I've played both of those in the past, did not beat either. Stellar Assault SS is rather difficult, good luck man. Bulk Slash is fun for a minute, but IIRC its design was rather shallow and the fun wore off fast. I might appreciate it more these days though. I have never played Brave Fencer Musashi at all.

I want to give Silent Bomber a look myself. And yeah, I got pretty far into Blaster Master: Blasting Again and remember it being pretty cool. I've since then seen a few videos or streams of it and it still looks pretty solid. I remember the game hit store shelves for $10 at launch, no joke. That weird era when the PSX was being phased out... EDIT: That Hell Night looks pretty promising.

Septerra Core! I was going to play that at one point, it was on my list for years. Probably won't happen, I can't say I care much anymore. Ex I hope you'll give Virtual Hydlide a shot later on. I'm really curious what you'd think. I still think it has a charm to it, as low-fi as it is. And I think it might have been the first 3D, third-person action RPG dungeon crawler on a console, so it feels as much like Dark Souls' weird, choppy ancestor as King's Field in a way.

I hope you'll give Virtual Hydlide a shot later on. HLTB says the game takes ~4 hours, so I will put it in my play list for this theme. What's on your docket for 5th gen?

I think I talked about it back on the first page, but my plan is to (hopefully) play one short and one long (ie 10 hours or longer) game from my shortlist: Short: Battle Circuit (Arcade) Chaos Break (PSX) Long: Brave Prove (PSX) Linkle River Story (Saturn) Moon RPG Remix (PSX/Steam) Shiren the Wanderer 2 (N64) Tenchu 2 (PSX) I'm thinking Chaos Break + Tenchu 2.

I don't recall if you ever beat the first Tenchu, but Tenchu 2 should be up your alley. Its controls can take a minute to grok, but it's got a lot of atmosphere.

I did and I loved it, basically.
Also, I mentioned at the beginning of the thread that we might just Samurai Shodown RPG and the man posted some time after that he thought it'd be ready for the end of the summer.
