I played a decent amount of MoH: Infiltrator myself back in the day. Very solid game, but yeah, the stealth missions weren't ideal.
Speaking of weird games you wouldn't think were good, but apparently are, The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Pumpkin King is apparently a full-blown Metroidvania. I haven't given it any run yet because I don't really care for the property, though.

The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Pumpkin King is apparently a full-blown Metroidvania. I put an hour in it last October, unfortunately it's not a hidden gem. The graphics are pretty good, and I enjoy the IP, but that's about all the positives I can offer. The OST is awful, the sound effects are annoying, the game design is tepid, the level layouts are bland... it's very much a licensed kid's game. But that's just my opinion, maybe you'd enjoy it, I don't know. Edit: I also tried The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge on Xbox last year... it's a God of War ripoff (which in turn was a Rygar: The Legendary Adventure ripoff). Unfortunately, it too was not a great game, I ended up dropping Oogie's Revenge after two hours or so.

Welp, it wouldn't surprise me if it were actually just "meh" - I think folks often give too much of a boost to a game if it follows the exploratory platformer structure. Anyway, here's where I saw it, might be a few more interesting games in there. Those Elvira games sure are something.

He's being extremely generous / clickbaity, calling these "incredible". Or "horror", for that matter (Scooby Doo!). Ushio to Tora sucks* and Musya is borderline unplayable. Samurai Ghost grew on me, it's actually decent. Shoutout to Konami's overlooked Aliens arcade game, it's solid, and obviously, the Splatterhouse trilogy.
*The OVA series is pretty good, btw (haven't seen the longer tv anime that came later).

Throwing it out there, seems like you can modify the camera controls in Otogi 2.
I double checked to make sure I didn't miss it in Otogi 1, but yeah pretty sure you just can't do anything about it in that one.

Yeah, within the video he calls out several of those games as not great, which is... yeah, do we need to call them "incredible"? Some are pretty interesting, though, regardless.

Title: DK: King of SwingPlatform: Game Boy Advance Region release played: USA Year of release: 2005 Developer: Paon Corporation Publisher: Nintendo Graphics: 4/5 Audio: 4/5 Challenge: 4/5 Fun factor: 2/5 Quick Thoughts: DK: King of Swing is a puzzle-platformer that uses an unusual form of platforming locomotion. Instead of running and jumping, Donkey Kong grabs onto, and swings from, floating peg boards in the air. King of Swing has a single-player story mode spanning five worlds of five stages each (so 25 levels) with bosses at the end of each world (there's also a multiplayer mode that at least three people played in history). Sometimes platformers with innovative movement mechanics are a welcome divergence from cookie cutter design. Unfortunately, King of Swing unusual as it is, too often falls right out of the air flat onto its big donkey face. +Unusual platformer locomotion. +Cheery colorful graphics. +Pleasant OST. +Decent boss fights. + DK: King of Swing is marginally better than its DS sequel DK: Jungle Climber (I beat that turd in 2018). -Stage design becomes very boring and samey early on. -The way the player attacks enemies is inconvenient to put it nicely. -Traversing all these peg boards becomes awful finicky when later stage gimmicks kick in. -This was more challenging than any 2D Mario I've beaten (and I beat SMB2 Famicom). -Simply not fun to play for more than five minutes. Ex's time to beat: 1 hour 15 minutes Ex's rating: 5/10Edit: Forgot to mention; I get the gist that Clu Clu Land (1985) was an inspiration for King of Swing's movement mechanics.

Ex Sounds like a nightmare for me, who hates grappling hooks and all things swinging in platformers. What are your thoughts on Ristar? It's basically Swinging Sonic.

What are your thoughts on Ristar? It's basically Swinging Sonic. I've beaten the Genesis and Game Gear* versions (they are unique from the other). I like the Ristar games, especially for their Sonic-esque aesthetics. It's more stop-and-go and tactile than Sonic, but there's still enough traditional platforming that Ristar doesn't feel too far removed from its genre. There are some mechanics (with the grabbing obviously) I've never seen in other games. If you've never played Ristar, I say give the Genesis version fifteen minutes, see what you think. *I beat the Genesis version long before I started using HTLB, but my brief thoughts on the Game Gear version were logged in 2020: I probably would have given the Genesis version a 7.5/10.
