I like the power fantasy final level, but the last boss was annoying for me this time around. It was like all of a sudden Lost Planet wanted to be Zone of the Enders.

I like the power fantasy final level, but the last boss was annoying for me this time around. It was like all of a sudden Lost Planet wanted to be Zone of the Enders. Makes me think of how Dragon Fighter NES turns into a shmup in the final level, lol (fresh in my mind since Sarge beat it recently). Never a bad thing if it's kind of a freebie fun last level I think. But if the gameplay suddenly gets overly complex or turns into another genre, that sucks.
I was looking up videos of Lost Planet 2 again recently to refresh myself. It's comical how much of a multiplayer centric campaign that one has. One section I was skimming through was one of those "Activate 5 beacons to move on" in some area that was probably a multiplayer map too. It's pretty much exactly the same mechanically. So you can skip it and I see no need to ever revisit it myself.

So you can skip it and I see no need to ever revisit it myself. Nah I intend to flagellate myself via the two sequels eventually. Not now though. Next I'm finishing Knack 2 and starting Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA on PS4. But for this thread, there are a few more winter-centric games I intend to check out (and maybe finish). Gotta beat more than just one game for this theme.

Well, it feels that way in Ice Man's stage, anyway, haha. I think the controls are fine elsewhere, even if they're just a smidge off. Like Mega Man's falling speed is crazy in the first game.
The Guts Man stage always gave me the willies, to the point that I'd actually just go through Elec Man twice to get the Magnet Beam. Although I did figure out a way to do it legit, and understanding exactly when the platforms dump you is key. That last jump is super scary, though.

But then the scary thing about Elec Man is him being able to kill you in like 2-3 hits. Depending on how the electric damage hits you or something. But then you can use that weapon to get some revenge on other bosses...
MM1 is definitely rough in some interesting ways.

That's why you always do Cut Man first, haha.
But really, even with some of its rough edges, it's so much better than most software at the time from third parties. It's downright revelatory.

Started bumping through Super Adventure Island II. I've wanted to replay this one for a while, so I'm finally doing it, mainly because it has a kicking snow level theme.

Grew up on that one! Somehow owned it. I remember thinking it was a weird Mario knockoff with the main character haha. It's probably been like 25 years since I played it, but yeah some of good memories.
