SargeThanks for your input. It'd be awesome to see a patch that pulls the DS translation into the SFC version. That'd also be awesomely illegal, so I won't hold my breath.

I'd replay it again in a heartbeat if that happened. No question.

Forgot that I beat it until I started it up last night, but beat Trax again. Cutesy tank-shmup for Game Boy. I still like it. Probably worth a 6.5/10. And looking up my rating for it a couple of years ago... yep, 6.5. Consistency, baby!
Also, another HAL game, assuming this counts... I finished a round of Shanghai, which I suppose is in some ways a glorified solitaire, but whatevs. I'm gonna count it. It was fine. I'd give it a 6/10 - solid implementation of the game considering the Game Boy limitations. Tiles were pretty readable overall.

Trax is a fun little shmupy thing, I agree. I beat it myself back in 2016. My HLTB blurb was short:
"Trax is a cute little shmup made by Hal of all companies. The player drives a little tank with a rotating turret through four shooting stages and a handful of bosses. Trax has a lot of charm in its graphics, and a whimsical nature about the whole affair. It's a very short game though, with a difficulty level that is quite low, making finishing it a breezy jaunt. Outside the main game, there is a deathmatch mode where the player can compete with up to three enemy tanks across a variety of stages. Trax might not be the most complex or challenging shmup on Game Boy, but it's got a lotta heart. 7/10"
Definitely recommended for GB fans.

When the power goes out, finish an aborted replay of The Dig, I say. Words later because typing on a tablet sucks, but it's one of my favorite adventure games from that era.

Nice beat man. If you pulled that off without a walkthrough, I'm impressed.

I probably did back in the day, but not this time - jumping back in was very disorienting, much like a JRPG. I was close to finished, though, and got that far mostly on old memories and a little willpower.

From all I've read, The Dig is great for its atmosphere and story, not so much its puzzle designs. So fair enough.

Yeah, so a little quick feedback on The Dig. I don't think the puzzles are as bad as many say, but they're definitely in the "obtuse" category at times. I don't think it commits anything particularly egregious compared to other genre contemporaries. I mean, as far as I know, there's no actual way to put yourself into an unwinnable state, unlike many of the King's Quest games.
As you hit on, the atmosphere is astounding stuff. Masterful use of the graphics they had on hand, and I'm sure that's a huge part of its appeal to me. The voice acting is also excellent.
A lot of adventure game hounds don't much care for this game, but I think they're wrong. Perfect? No. Great? Yes, despite its troubled history. A primary complaint is that the game seems to play pretty much everything straight and seriously. Expectations of more twists, or more humor like other LucasArts games. But taken for what it is, and not what people want it to be, I think it's a good time. 8/10 for me.

I just finished ALIENĀ³ on the NES. Even though it's published by LJN, I didn't find the game horrible (I especially liked the music). The game does have its fails, however, such as the time limit, and having to be on the very far side of the screen to make it scroll.
