Thanks Chema. I'll keep the software rendering in mind if I run into issues with PS2 stuff.
I didn't really force any emulator to 16:9 either unlike the videos I watched. I think that guy doesn't mind a stretched image but I hate that. I'll just change the setting if I know for sure a game from that era supports widescreen or a hack.

Just gotta say, DuckStation has blown me away tonight. What an awesome PS1 emulator. Double thanks to Chema for bringing it up on HRG. Love this part particularly so much:
I haven't even messed with all the "enhancement" settings yet, but geometry correction alone is outstanding.

You're welcome XeogredEx I see you're playing with higher resolutions. If it's not activated, use adaptive downsampling to preserve 2D backgrounds' smoothness.

If it's not activated, use adaptive downsampling to preserve 2D backgrounds' smoothness. Cool, I'll check it out. There are a lot features to learn and experiment with. One aspect I really appreciate about DuckStation, is that you can make emulation changes on the fly. For all I enjoyed ePSXe, having to shut down and restart it every time an emulation change was made was very tedious.

There is truly no smoother butter than Duckstation. I've been enjoying the heck out of it lately myself. 10. Resident Evil Survivor (PSX) 13. Bloody Roar (PSX)[single arcade, Alice] 14. Bloody Roar 2 (PSX)[single story, Jenny] 15. Tekken (PSX)[single arcade, Law] 16. Tekken 2 (PSX)[single arcade, Law] 17. Tekken 3* (PSX)[single arcade, Law] All played via Duckstation. The screenshots I've posted from these games were taken by me too. I love how this and Dolphin have a slick modern interface too, with the library feature. PCSX2 lacks that and still looks a bit more primitive UI wise.
Ex: I have 8x MSAA set for Anti-Aliasing and don't have "Preserve Projection Precision" checked, those are the only differences with my settings.

Even though I'm going to start emulating more 6th gen on my PC's now, I'm getting more curious about FMB for the PS2 as well. Too bad there's not a version of that with a microSD slot in the memory card unit for storage haha. So what slim externals would someone recommend for that?
I wonder if FMB will work on my faulty PS2 slim. Since it's the motor that has issues with the discs, maybe everything else under the hood could still play games off of a HDD.
Curious about grabbing one of these super memory cards, but I'm always leery of the weird 3rd party ones like this: www.amazon.com/dp/B07PMFPQBC/

Xeogred I use FreeMcBoot with my Slim, works great. Just burn the DVD, pop it in and play, easy. Only thing is, you'll need a way to get the initial Memory Card with the injector files. If you're brave you can buy a card off Amazon. Also the quality of the DVD you use, and the speed of the burn, matters a lot. I won't go into all that unless you actually go down this road. Yeah, risky purchase, you think? Heh.
As for DVD ripping... I'd honestly probably go the lazy route and just download rips of what I own and go that route instead.

I'd be curious to see the MiSTer thrown into that battle. I've always just stuck to PC, but the MiSTer offers enough that I've started to use it as much, if not more, than PC emulation.
ON FMB:
I use FMB for all of my ps2 gaming as well, on a slim model.
The only issue I've ran into, which may be the result of my ps2 being old, is that lower-quality discs don't work great for anything with loading or cutscenes. I found an old stack of Verbatims though, and even the most demanding games have worked with no issue.
You can technically boot ps1 games off a usb stick with FMB using POPstarter too. I've found it to be very hit-or-miss, and ended up just getting a ps1 with xstation installed, but it was fun to mess around with for a while.
