Gaming has been slow for me lately too. Not that I don't want to play, just a lot of ancillary obligations/distractions/perturbations eating up my time and mind space. I'm sure in time I'll get back into a game beating groove. Ebbs and flows at my age.

It does happen - I looked at my gaming time last year and I had lots of ebbs. I've been on a stronger kick lately, but I don't know how long that will last. Just try to enjoy life as best you can, and don't let the non-gaming time bug you too much!

Well when I do play Ys8 I have a great time with it (I've got about 8 hours in thus far, still haven't seen Dana yet!). And I legit plan to beat a few more games for this theme. As long as my gusto survives into the late evening, which is when I have time for video games. The gusto does not always show up, though.

Yep. I haven't played really anything this evening, for example. I was actually feeling pretty blah and took a short siesta, which helped tremendously. And coming off a long run through Greedfall, I'm not eager to start another long game.

Almost time for a new theme, y'all! I like a lot of the suggestions that toei has already tossed out, so I'm trying to figure out what pairs best with 4th gen. Not that one has to! I'm thinking of saving skies and seas for May/June, feels like a great time for that. I also think it will pair well with 7th gen. I'm debating doing guns and swords, although do we want to split those out separately and give both their due, or combine them both into a theme like skies and seas? Just spitballing! Other stuff suggested: present-day, futuristic, cops and robbers, fan translations, clean-up months, and psychic powers. I think any of these would be a lot of fun, so chime in! Fan translations would also pair really well with 4th gen, given the prolific amount of those.

I'm good with any theme you guys want to do. At some point this year I'll be able to contribute more than I have been. My real life lately has been quite draining, and I don't always have the energy to play games at night. I suspect this will improve as the year goes on, though.

As of 2/27 here, I've only beaten three games. Granted I've put 60+ hours into SMT4, but yeah. Bumming myself that I haven't been able to game as much the past two months, life has definitely been hectic but I think things will hopefully stabilize here soon for me as well.
So yeah, I'm cool with any themes some of you cook up now, since I don't have a lot to weigh in on them lately. For some reason though picturing the 4th gen right now... I was picturing ladders? No idea if that translates to anything.
I definitely like the idea of skies/seas for May/June though. Goes well with summer and maybe there's more water based games that generation to dig into.
8bit should be the easiest thing ever to jump into and it's what I started on myself, but maybe the 16bit can sometimes be a bit more comfort food for me and I'll get more in the next two months, I hope so.

I'm thinking guns and swords would work great with 6th gen because of all the character action, samurai games and shooters on the PS2 and others. It would work well with the 4th gen too, but I'm thinking since we've all probably played through more of the 16-bit libraries, maybe something that promotes digging deeper, like fan translations. Or any of the random themes if people want to look outside of 16-bit, like psychic powers or present-time.
