I think I've heard it's mostly episodic haha. Started in 1996, predates One Piece. It's easy to knock on the episode count, but it probably is just kind of like a Simpsons-like show or Crayon Shin-chan, an endless staple for Japanese entertainment over there.
The most I know about it... is that Akira Kamiya (Ryo Saeba in City Hunter, Kenshiro, etc) voiced a main character, but was replaced years ago when he was going hard on trying to push for better pay in the voice acting industry. Not sure if he went on strike or what. Sadly this seems like the twilight era of his career and not much outside of this show in the modern era. But it's nice he's still voicing Ryo in the new CH movies.

From the shmuplations interview:
"—Could you tell us about the scene at the start of the game where Mania is seen jumping on a Super Famicom? It caused quite a stir at the time. Did you have some anger towards Nintendo?
Takayan: I wasn’t happy that most of the development budget was going to the SFC team. After I put that in, a FAX was sent to all the SEGA development studios asking them to refrain from using imagery that hurt other companies trademarks or characters.
I think the only reason nothing happened at the time was the power of the Sunseibu president and the fact that SEGA themselves didn’t like Nintendo all that much."
It's funny because in America, it would have been Sega itself doing that, proudly and publicly, and not a third-party developer on his own.
"—From the start, you named your characters Ootorii Mania and Haneda Maria, were you trying to appeal to the hardcore SEGA fans or, is it you yourself showing your love for the company?
Takayan: It was initially designed as a SEGA arcade game, and I’ve only ever used SEGA boards in development so I’m a SEGA man through and through.
—I’m not sure many people would have known that the SEGA headquarters were near Otorii station on the Keikyu Haneda airport line..."

Very cool. MUSHA definitely pushes the system to the limit and the OST goes HARD!

So a sealed copy of Castlevania goes for $90K? Jeez! That's ridiculous, but it's also hilarious that it sold for $90K but Simon's Quest only sold for $2K.
