I hadn't looked into PS3 emulation at all, so this was news to me. It does require quite the beefy PC to emulate worth a damn. $60 for a PS3 was a very good deal.

I'm not surprised, but there's still no way my PC could run it. But yeah, PS3 emulation has been making some giant steps forward in recent years, which is why Atlus freaked out when Persona 5 got released on PS4 and 3 and soon afterwards people were already emulating it.

Just the other day I was still hearing it's not ideal to emulate. You can see some texture glitching going on in that video too.
If I had more expendable income I'd buy you guys a PS3 and Demon's.

I plan to start Dark Souls in December, it's a winter game for me, not fall.

I forgot you mentioned that. I'm playing the PC "remaster" port now as the original got delisted (still got it though). The lighting/ambiance is definitely a bit different. I'm not sure if I like "depth of field" in modern games or not, but playing this with it on, kind of makes it feel like the old school original PS3 release in a way. With the superior framerate and all still. One hilarious thing is that I guess sliding down ladders is just impossible for Dark Souls 1 and higher framerates. This was a glitch that crashed the original when you used a mod to improve the game otherwise. So they just took it out completely in the remaster. In the original console/PC releases (without mods) you could slide down ladders to get off them faster. Obviously not a deal breaker, but a funny weird change... I'm not even going to hint at what I'm doing with my character so Ex goes in completely blind. But it's amusing I realized I'm kind of doing a build that I did during my very first Dark Souls character, which I never finished. So it's kind of like the redemption arc. I played Dark Souls 1 before the series took off, so I was really in the dark, no pun intended, coming off of Demon's still not really knowing what the heck I was doing. I actually ended up beating Dark Souls 2 first and it fully clicked then. Maybe the osmosis of the series will give Ex more luck on a first run. But bad gear and some sloppily spent stat points hurts a lot more in this one than it might in Demon's. That's why I never beat it the first time I'm sure. So my new character is a similar build/weapon use, but everything else I'm doing far better haha. Already several bosses in, I can usually beat this in like 20-30 hours now. Less with a magic build and other specific items.
Anyways, this playthrough is kind of my random podcasts/shows game for now, doubling up! So it's not a high priority.

The Switch version allows ladder sliding which was helpful in key areas.
Most games with the Depth of Dark Souls I usually play a character for ~5 hours and then restart once I get the system.

I was hoping they updated the UI a bit, but it's still the classic huge one haha. You can edit the scaling a bit in the options though. But yeah, from Dark Souls 2 and on the menu's are more modern in a good way.

I won't be doing a easy mode magic build, I can say that much. Melee to the metal.
