You've already played the Dark trilogy though right? I'm sure Demon's will still impress and fascinate you, it's perfect. Funny timing on the bump since Sekiro just came out. I know we must keep it to Demon's for this thread for now, but I just want to say the "hardest one yet!" claims for each new From game almost became a meme, until now. There is contingency among user reviews and even Soulsborne veterans on this because it's that severely challenging and different. I think that proves From finally broke free from their own formula and made something even more diverging that Bloodborne (which is mostly just defined by its nightmareish HP Lovecraft gothic setting, the mechanics are still basically Souls). Anyways, shoot me a PM if you want to talk more or have questions. All you and the thread need to know is that from 2009 to now in 2019, a full decade worth, From Software's dominance continues with their unstoppable chain reaction of modern classics.
For now, keep us updated on Demon's gunstar!

Yeah, I've been through the DS Trilogy and Bloodborne more than once now so I'm looking forward to finally completing the set.
I'm putting off Sekiro since I imagine there will be inevitable DLC followed by a complete edition of some sort. I am glad to hear from people that it's not really a Soulsborne game and that they've managed to capture the same brutal-but-fair gameplay balance without redoing the formula a sixth time.

Did I say Sekiro? I meant Tenchu.

Speaking of Tenchu (of which newfangled modern game started as), are they worth playing today?

Speaking of Tenchu (of which newfangled modern game started as), are they worth playing today? Well, Ayame's midriff looks every bit as tantalizing as it did back in 2003, so yes, most definitely. But if you were alluding to the gameplay, then the answer is still yes. I'm pretty sure Tenchu was actually the very first 3D stealth game as it came out before both MGS and Thief. It also offers a degree of world interaction that almost goes into immersive sim territory and you rarely come across in console video games - especially with the grappling hook, which in the first game the game you can use little to no restraint. Much like Thief, you have many gadgets you can and should use to trick enemies, because combat isn't Tenchu's strongest suit. Unlike Thief, Tenchu has actual boss fights and, quite honestly, they are pretty lame. There are a few exceptions, but I usually don't really like them myself either. It's not too great to make your way through an entire level completely undetected, only to die during the mandatory boss fight... and having to do it all over again. The music, however, is excellent. Believe it or not, Tenchu 2 is pretty bad. It feels phoned in. No music. Daylight missions, grappling hook completely nerfed. Weak. Even Ayame looks bad in this game. Tenchu 3 aka Wrath of Heaven for the PS2 is a return to form. It's perfect. Fatal Shadows feels more like an expansion than an actual sequel. If you liked WoH, you'll also like this one. As it's often the case with expansions, it's noticeably harder than the base game. Didn't like Tenchu 4 for PSP/Wii. Feels completely on rails. Heard bad, bad things about the DS game and I've never played Tenchu Z. The best tip I can give to new Tenchu players is to make the most out of your poison rice balls. That's right. Believe it or not, onigiri are the deadliest weapon in Tenchu. Throw them to the ground and the gluttonous opponents will leave their post to eat up the suspicious treat without a second thought. However, poison onigiri only come in limited supply. Simply wait for the enemy to pick up the rice ball and then, as soon as the eating animation begins, rush and murder them before they get a chance to gobble down your precious onigiri. If you were quick enough, the enemy will be dead and the onigiri will still be intact. Truly hardcore gameplay. Amazing, spectacular games. Would recommend. 10/10.

are they worth playing today? There's a considerable amount of games in the series. But as I understand things, these are the entries are worth playing: Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven (PS2) Tenchu: Fatal Shadows (PS2) Tenchu: Shadow Assassins (Wii) I have not played those entries myself, however. Just going off reviews. The only Tenchu game I've personally played was the very first one on PS1. I enjoyed it quite a lot, once I came to grips with how it should be played. That was about twenty years ago though, I have no idea if it's aged well or not. Here's some gameplay of said entry:
Edit: Ninja'd by @tsumuri. Fitting!

I'd like to check some of them out myself someday, but yeah those PSX entries look exceptionally rough. But hey I loved Koudelka last year, so who knows.

I feel like I should download these (or buy them) and throw them on my PS Classic.
