Yeah that falls in line with Nintendo dumping their DSi and Wii eShop stores (no way to legally get those games back now). And games are delisted from all kinds of virtual storefronts daily. Most gamers today actually lease games under the guise of "owning" them. The price people pay for immediate gratification is complete surrender of consumer rights. Google Stadia and its ilk will make this truth crystal clear.

I absolutely loved Freedom Planet. I beat it with all three characters. It's not Sonic, but I think that's why I liked it a bit more. Easy 9/10 at least from me.
Speaking of lack of ownership, apparently Microsoft is shutting down their eBook service, and anything you bought? Poof. Gone. They're offering refunds, so yay? Still, everyone talks about how Steam will never go anywhere, but we don't know the future. Epic is making a challenge, and Valve has gotten lazy. Not saying they go down now, but this idea that they are an unstoppable juggernaut is misplaced. If they croak, your games are gone, too.
And to be clear, I have a lot of Steam games. I just bought a few on Steam the other night because they're not available anywhere else. But just be aware what you're getting into, and... maybe have some backups and cracks available if everything goes to pot.

Sarge Yeah, that ebook thing was what the link Xeogred posted was about. It's horrible, honestly. Hopefully all those books are available on other platforms, so people will be able to buy them again using the refund money if they want. If this happened with exclusives, then that's some real garbage. Fuck DRM. Also, Brave Earth looks too sluggish and clumsy for my tastes, but Odallus seems like it could be really good, I won't lie. It looks like a 16-bit game with NES colors, though, not a real 8-bit game. I wish indie developers would stop with that pseudo-8-bit nonsense. I also wish the games I hear about weren't almost always shameless clones, but that's another story. t

Epic is making a challenge, and Valve has gotten lazy. Nobody can ever really say when a game comes out on the "PC" now either. The storefront must now be specified as Epic splinters it like digital consoles with all their 3rd party exclusives. At least Steam and GOG co-existed until now and there were cool discount stores to get keys from like Green man gaming. Also consider how screwed a lot of the world is when Epic has regional pricing and is locking down all these exclusives, people in many countries have to pay hundreds if they want these games and have no alternative.
Nobody wins with Steam either. But Epic ain't the ideal solution and just paints an even darker future. And if it weren't for Fortnite we probably wouldn't even be talking about them.

Sarge Yeah, that ebook thing was what the link Xeogred posted was about. Actually guys it was anayo who posted the Microsoft being dicks link initially. The storefront must now be specified as Epic splinters it like digital consoles with all their 3rd party exclusives. That is exactly their aim. As we move ever closer to a world of digital-only games, digital only platforms ("digital consoles") will take further precedence. There is money to be made in exclusivity.
Edit: And lol at Steam offering "DRM free" games. You still have to use their middleware client to initiate the game, even if doing so offline. It's still collecting data from you while you play, and logging that data to upload when you go online. That middleware client is still eating system resources and CPU cycles with no good reason while you play your "DRM free" game. What a joke.

What do you guys think of A.N.N.E.? It's currently in pay money to be our beta testers stage "early access": Graphics kinda remind me of FEZ.

Yeah, EGS isn't feature complete yet, and that chart certainly seems like something put together by a Steam fan. Especially with the "Chi-Com" spying and "Paid for Exclusives" entries.
Also, I just about spit my drink out when I read "Curation/Curators" as a feature on Steam. There's a massive amount of bilge on the platform now. If anything, the EGS seems to have a much more curated experience than the "anything goes" model Steam is currently running.

Just downloaded Jet Gunner from Steam. Looks interesting. Not part of the Summer Sale, but it's only 99 cents normally so.......
Honestly though, I only bought this because I had $1 in Steam bucks laying around. I'm pretty much done with Steam purchases, for the most part. My computer is getting old and can't even run a great many "retro" styled games, or even certain visual novels. Most of the good stuff seems like it ends up on the Switch anyway. Plus, I have something like 250 Steam games; absolutely overwhelming. I killed off all my digital "want lists" this year, with the exception of Switch eShop (where games are released faster than I can buy them, obviously). Feels good, man.
