I should be getting my 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ in tomorrow and might test it out with some modern games too I've been waiting to see what your verdict of the controller was before biting. My other hesitation is I think this controller only does Bluetooth communication? That would mean it wouldn't work with my old XP classic PC. Unless I got a USB to Bluetooth receiver adapter I guess. Hmm, well: - Wireless Bluetooth, rumble vibration, motion controls, USB-C. - Please use the USB cable included in the box to charge, do not use other USB cable to charge.
This and I think I saw in some videos you can still use it wired, hopefully with the included USB cable. I guess I'm not sure but I'm also hoping that's the case.

XeogredIf that's the case, yeah, I could use a retro USB adapter to accommodate the C type connection. Intriguing. Let us know what you think of the controller's quality!

I love it!
Ex : The USB cable has a normal connection for the PC (old 2.0), so it's just USB-C for the controller connection, which is what the issue is with the PS4/X1 controllers from what I've always heard. You flinch just a bit and those crappy connectors might drop the connection. So far I have not had that issue with this once though. The controller connection is pretty snug and nice.
Worth pointing out I don't have Bluetooth on my PC at all. I have a little USB dongle I bought awhile back, but still haven't bothered. It took me a bit to figure out why my PC wasn't recognizing the controller though, despite the LED light going on when I plugged it in. Apparently you have to hold X+Start while plugging it in which forces it into X-Input mode. After that, I tested it across espxe, SNES9x, and Steam. It all works like a charm. Apparently the controller saves whatever mode you were in since it was last connected too, so I hopefully won't have to bother doing that again. I like that the LED light isn't too bright and obnoxious either. I always had to unplug my X1 controller whenever I went to sleep because it was so dang bright...
Worth pointing out however, the USB cable it comes with is maybe 2.5feet long. Completely fine with my desktop setup, but yeah. I'm not sure if a third party cable would work as nicely as this one seems to be either.
It's amusing that this controller most closely resembles the DualShock 4 design... while I've only used this thing for like 10 minutes compared to years with the PS4 controller, I think this thing beats it out. The grips and form factor are just slightly wider to the point that I think this thing could be comfortable with long gaming sessions. The DS4 as much as I love it, does seem to cramp me up after binging a lot on the PS4. I think because the handles are kind of thin and I've got big hands.
A wired controller that could be easy to use for emulation and modern games is exactly what I was wanting here and it gets a thumbs up so far. I played a little Blazing Chrome and the D-Pad and buttons are definitely freaking good. Heck, anyone with a Switch should maybe consider this over Nintendo's own Pro, that seems to be where this controller is getting its popularity as a superior alternative to the Pro.
The one issue is that I can't seem to update the firmware with the 8bitdo software, like it's not detecting the controller. Hmm, yet everything else is and it seems to be working just fine.

I wish I'd held out for this one - if they've fixed the d-pad, that's a plus. Mine is pretty dicey.

Do you mean this specific model, or past 8bitdo controllers? I guess I've heard they did have some issues previously.
Also just sampled a little RE7, which is first person to see how it feels with a game utilizing the joysticks more. Along with sampling the L2/R2 triggers. Wow, I'm not kidding guys... this controller is super legit, I seriously think this is my new replacement for the X1 on PC and it's even better than the DS4 or Switch Pro. Now this bad boy truly feels like the SSJ SNES gamepad (though I really dug the Wii U Pro controller as well).
I still want to use my Buffalo SNES and Retrobit Genesis pads for the authentic vibes across those systems, but yeah I'll probably main with this 8bitdo for PSX and PC gaming now!
It's also hard to tell from the pictures/colors, but the buttons are in the US's SNES style. Y/X are concave indented, with B/A being rounded.

The previous one, the SN30 Pro. It seems like some folks get lucky, but I didn't. I need to take it apart; there are some mods I can do to fix some of the issues.

Oh and NOW the "G Classic" Gameboy colored one is in stock. I kind of wanted that one the most actually, but it was like $70 when I checked before ordering the SNES styled one. Oh well, maybe I'll get another one eventually for any Switch gaming parties, if that's ever a thing again this year...

So I mentioned before I was playing three games simultaneously. Well, since I knocked out Guacamelee! 2, that means it's just Deus Ex and Indivisible, for which I finally got my Switch copy. I backed it years ago, and I have to say, so far I'm not disappointed at all. While the game has a much different sense of humor than Valkyrie Profile (read: it actually has one), it definitely has the vibe in combat, and has also been meaningfully expanded. Plus, I really dig the art style, and the incredibly varied cast so far.

I've been sampling Fight N' Rage off and on lately while swapping out controllers and stuff. And sadly I'm just not feeling this game.
Wish I could pinpoint why too... the game seems completely sound, but it's not doing anything for me.
