I bought a Limited Run physical version of the first Curse of the Moon and was underwhelmed, although judging from the review scores I seem to be an outlier. I've only beaten Curse of the Moon once, on 3DS back in May 2018. HLTB says it took me an hour and a half, and I rated it an 8/10. My notes were brief: Here's a great choice for NES fans, a retro throwback in all the right ways. Graphics, music, controls, and everything else is done to 8-bit perfection. Level design could be more creative, but branching paths exist for replayability. Difficulty's on the low end, but players will have fun alternating between the different characters trying out new tactics. Boss battles are fantastic! If you're a fan of NES classics like Castlevania III (and to an extent Mega Man 2), you owe it to yourself to play Bloodstained - Curse of the Moon. This is a short but very sweet treat.
I could see how if someone wasn't already an 8-bit Castlevania fan, CotM might be more like a 7/10. Nostalgia is definitely a contributing factor. Nah the weird thing is, I love 8-bit Castlevania. The very first is my #1 top all time favorite NES game ever. I've beaten almost every entry in the series except maybe the Sharp X68000 one, which I haven't yet made time for, and Castlevania III, where I made it all the way to the final stage then puttered out. For some reason Curse of the Moon just didn't feel like a real castlevania game to me. I'm not sure why. :/

One of my Dad's former coworkers sold me this PC:
Intel i6 6700K 32 GB DDR4 3000 RAM GTX 1070 750W PSU
My Dad's old coworker wanted $350 for it. Machines with similar specs cost about $900 pre-owned. I bought the PC and gave it to my brother on the condition that he give this PC back to me:
Intel i5 3470 16 GB DDR 1666 RAM GTX 1050Ti 300W PSU
Then I sold the older one on ebay and after fees and everything I made about $290 on it. So basically I got my brother a $900 PC for $60.

anayo: Dang, nice score! That outstrips my old laptop pretty easily. I'm getting pretty close to just biting the bullet on a PC, although what I'm considering is a cheaper laptop and getting a new desktop when the big chips hit either late this year or next year. At this point, anything beats my old one, so I'm thinking about a cheap sub-$1000 gaming laptop.

I've spent loads of money on my younger brother throughout the years, I think he just takes it for granted.

So once those are out it might be a good time to put together an affordable 3rd gen Ryzen + RTX 2000 system. He doesn't share my enthusiasm for hardware... for instance you'd never hear him say, "If you add THIS expansion card to this slot you can do XYZ." But he and I do play games together online a lot. Once he sat down and saw the better framerates he was very appreciative. He has even hauled the PC with him on interstate trips so he and I could play together once he arrived somewhere with an Internet connection. And it's not a little compact PC meant to be hauled around, either. That sucks. I think maybe there's something hereditary that makes older brothers want to get their younger brothers nice things.

If you've got Twitch Prime, no excuses for not playing Blazing Chrome now. It's free!

I think maybe there's something hereditary that makes older brothers want to get their younger brothers nice things. Perhaps. My brother is 8.5 years younger than me. So it just worked out that I had disposable income before he did. I always bought him stuff, took him to movies and restaurants, that sort of stuff. Also occasionally bailed him out of overdue bills while he was a poor college student. (I still spend decent money on his birthday and Christmas gifts too.) Well he's about to graduate with a PhD, and is probably going to land Federal employment. So maybe he'll be making decent money soon and will finally start returning the favor.

Is this the same brother you gave a Sega Genesis Mini?

Is this the same brother you gave a Sega Genesis Mini? Yes. I bought him a brand new one last Christmas, along with some other gifts. He did play it quite a bit too.

Against my better judgment, I put a big GameStop order in. Orders on pre-owned games over $100 get 50% off. Ended up going for the following games:
- Nioh 2 (PS4) - Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright (3DS) - Gravity Rush 2 (PS4) - SoulCalibur Legends (Wii) - Shining Resonance Refrain (PS4) - Valkyria Chronicles 4 (PS4) - Valkryia Revolution (PS4) - Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair (PS4) - Final Fantasy Explorers (3DS)
Set me back $87.64 for all that. I almost went for more - had World of Final Fantasy in the cart (but nope, there's a "maxima" version), Dead or Alive 5 Last Round (apparently still a ton of DLC), Shadow of the Colossus, Doom Eternal, Death Stranding, and Valfaris, which would have put me at like $155. Still, considering, that's not bad at all, even if I had gone that route. But I decided I didn't need the majority of those yet.
