Just the other day I visited a manga scanlation page that's been translating one of my favorite manga for years, but have slowed down in the final stretch. The chat had a bunch of people that had gone from just whining to insulting the scanlators or requesting they drop it so some other group can finish... they're so entitled that they just assume that someone else will naturally step in and give them the free entertainment they know they deserve, when the truth is, there aren't that many people doing these things in the first place (even fewer in the case of vg fan translations), and the most likely outcome of them dropping it is that it'll never get done. AGTP has a ton of ongoing projects, but he's also released a ton of projects, and you know that when it does come out the quality will be there.

Despite the number of titles in the backlog for AGTP, look at how many have released! On top of that, the quality level of those releases has been superb. You're absolutely right, there are few people that do these sorts of things. There's an assumption that someone else will step into the gap, but that typically doesn't happen at all. I hope they're happy, hounding one of the best hackers out of the SMT scene. Maybe now they can wait another ten years for a different release. You know, instead of just being happy about what they're already getting and not paying a dime for. I think Gideon has earned the benefit of the doubt over all these years. I'll also note, several of them seemed to be of the opinion that he was intentionally holding back the translation. And you know what, maybe he was. With folks like that, I actually don't really blame him. bonesnapdeez: Your statement is probably true, but I have been on some subreddits that have normal people. The tenor of posts for that SMT thread I read was just absolutely toxic, though. Which is fitting, given that one of the worst characters I saw there goes by "ToxicDevil93".

With folks like that, I actually don't really blame him. They just have a thing for conspiracy theories, so they naturally assume they know what's really going on. There's been other instances before where Gid has said a patch was nearly done but awaiting a final edit, but it still took a long time because's he got a bunch of different projects and a life as well. I don't think he did that to piss off the Landstalkers or Crystal Warrior fans or whatever.

Two releases today! First off, Majin Tensei 2, a Megami Tensei-related SRPG for the SNES. Secondly, Metal Max, the original open-ended post-apocalyptic tank RPG for the NES. This is the same game that was remade as Metal Max Returns on SNES and fan-translated a few years ago. MMR was great. I'm still waiting for MM2, which is one of AGTP's old projects. And fittingly, this was published by Data East.

Thanks for the info toei. Perhaps DDSTranslation is going to pick up on MT/SMT where Aeon Genesis left off.

Well, Tom, the translator, has been working on the series for years. He did Last Bible 2 & 3, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, Megami Tensei, Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei (the SNES remake of 1 & 2), Last Bible Special, and maybe others, with DDS and other romhackers. They've already said they're doing Majin Tensei. So yeah, I'm not worried. In general this series has gotten a ton of love from the fan translation community, including AGTP's handling of the SNES SMT trilogy and Another Bible. Fans really have nothing to complain about.

That's great news about Majin Tensei 2. There's actually an old patch for the first game, too, but it's pretty spotty. In any case, the only SMT-related game - or at least the only one I can think of - that still hasn't been translated yet is the original Devil Summoner for the Saturn.

Well, Tom, the translator I wonder if that's Tom Lipschultz of XSEED fame?
