Aw, dang, I just played through this recently. Still, I might throw this on the EverDrive and play through it again, just to see the changes.

Well I mean GQ is a very short game, like 4 hours tops right? That's one reason I actually replay it.

I'd say even shorter than that these days. I blistered through it in 1.5 hours this year, and even that could have been faster if I hadn't screwed up in that tower like I always seem to do. I do suspect a run through this one would see me doing a lot more talking to townsfolk, though, just to see how the newly translated content stacks up.

The four hours; I meant for someone brand new to the game, not old hands like us!

What, you don't think someone could (red) blaze right through it sight unseen? Yeah, you're right. It's a four-hour game for a first run... as long as you've got some pretty good gaming chops. There are absolutely some tough bits that younger me couldn't handle.

Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible | Game Gear | 1994
An English fan translation for Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible for Game Gear has just released. This game also appeared on the Game Boy, localized in the west as Revelations: The Demon Slayer. (Meaning this new release is not the same game as Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special on Game Gear.)

Interesting. I didn't know that R:TDS showed up on any other systems. I actually own that cart, although I must admit I never put a ton of time into it.
It was a dual-mode cart on GB/GBC, so you could either play on an old school Game Boy or the color with some palette enhancements. I'm also thinking it had Super Game Boy borders.

Yeah, it did have SGC borders. I played that game for a bit, but I can't remember if I finished it or even got far. I knew about the untranslated GG version just because there aren't that many RPGs on it and I've checked them all out at one point.
This is the interesting part (from the romhacking news post): "The game, a remake, expands on the contents of the original version... The Game Gear version has a more fleshed-out story, revised events, and two different endings."
So considering how much most GB RPGs need fleshing out, that might just make it the definitive version. Plus the nice colors.

Well, that seems like a good reason to check it out. I've actually got an old school flash cart for GG as well that I could throw it on, and hope that it works. It's not as nice as an EverDrive, but even the EDGG has some issues with the same games this one does, like Gunstar Heroes.
Actually, I'd probably flash it for a few seconds, then go to somewhere that has a decent screen. I'd love to give my real Game Gear more love, but it's incredibly difficult to play on there now. Even the Majesco models, which have slightly better screens, look like junk compared to even semi-modern displays.

Kuroshitsuji: Phantom & Ghost (Black Butler: Phantom & Ghost) | DS | 2009
A new full English translation has been released for Kuroshitsuji: Phantom & Ghost, a 2009 DS "choose-your-own-adventure game featuring puzzles, mini games, and multiple endings". Basically a visual novel with more actual gameplay than what is average for the genre. The project took two years to complete, and was created by the Phantom and Ghost Team. This game itself is based on the Black Butler manga/anime series. The patch is available here: While I've never seen this series, nor read its manga, I always appreciate new DS English fan translations. There's quite a bit of games in the DS Japanese library that continue to remain solely Japanese.
