Looks pretty neat. I'll definitely give it a look.

Looks pretty neat. I'll definitely give it a look. I assume the game must be decent, for the hacking team to have bothered spending two whole years creating an English patch for it. Apparently the anime's concept is kinda dark. From Wikipedia: "The series follows Ciel Phantomhive, a thirteen-year-old boy head of the Phantomhive household, an aristocratic family known as the Queen's Guarddog. He is tasked with solving crimes in London's underworld. Ciel has formed a contract with Sebastian Michaelis to seek revenge against those who tortured him and murdered his parents. Sebastian is a demon who has taken on the disguise of a butler, and in exchange for his services, he will be allowed to consume Ciel's soul."

Faxanadu was actually released in the West, but it just received an English retranslation. Not only does it restore content that was removed from the Western, it also features new quality-of-life features like a saving system to replace those awful passwords. Don't know if I'm down with all the stuff that wasn't there in either the Japanese or Western release, but it's definitely pretty cool.

I've only beaten Faxanadu once, back in 1990 when I requested it for my eleventh birthday. For years I've been thinking of replaying Faxanadu, and now that this new patch is out, I think it's finally time. For me this is another prime candidate for the Brand New Déjà Vu theme for July's Club Retro.

Nice! Now I wish I'd held off on my replay.

Been meaning to check that one out myself. Looks like a mix of Zelda 2 and Simon's Quest? The sidescrolling ARPG I guess.

Yeah, Faxanadu falls right into the Zelda II camp. It came out about a year after that game. It's really solid! While I don't think it's quite as good as Zelda II, the game has a dark, somber atmosphere and manages to keep tonal consistency pretty much the whole way through. If Zelda II is a 9/10 (or better), Faxanadu is right there at an 8 or 8.5.
