I'm pretty sure it's mostly how they evolved over the years. They may have started as traditional "biscuits", but from doing some reading, changes were made to make them more edible - i.e. not "hard tack" or something similar. And the regional variant in the South owes a lot to the type of flour we use here compared to elsewhere - it makes them a lot fluffier and less packy. Plus we have a deep, abiding love for butter. And buttermilk biscuits step it up even further. Truly incredible stuff.
There's a lot of Scottish/Scots-Irish influence on Appalachian culture - some of my ancestors came to Mississippi from Kentucky before Mississippi was even a state.

I truly feel sorry for anyone who has never had a fresh, real, buttermilk biscuit right out the oven.

As Ex said, Birdcage of Horrors is not a game at all, not even in the "FMV game" way. It was a pioneering year-long web series that consisted of 365 1-minute episodes, with a new one released each day on ASCII's website. The idea of having these super-short episodes had to do with tech limitations at the time, as well as creating a buzz. There were also an online database that was continually updated to provide new information/clues and a bulleting board. It was very well-received in Japan. The 6 Dreamcast discs are a physical release of that series.
The Naruto DS RPG is part two of a trilogy of which the first and third were officially localized.

I might give it a shot at some point. Maybe I should watch 1 episode a day for a year like it was intended. Even in compilation format, every minute there's a screen that pops up saying "(insert number of) DAYS LEFT".
