I have one of them on SNES: Lords of Elemental. Imported it for cheap, so hey, why not?

Ex SRW has been at the top of his queue for years. He's always releasing some SRW patch or another. If anything, SMT If... was the outlier. I'm just holding on for Metal Max 2 and Lady Stalker, myself.

Here's everything Gid's released since the first SRW patch, in order of release date, sorted most recent to oldest: Super Robot Wars 3 Super Robot Wars EX Shin Megami Tensei: if... Laplace´s Demon Super Robot Wars Gaiden The Great Battle 5 The Great Battle 2 - Last Fighter Twin The Great Battle 4 The Great Battle 3 The Great Battle Dark Half Lagrange Point Super Robot Wars 2 Super Robot Wars 2 Famicom Mini Royal Stone Ys V - Kefin, Lost City of Sand TwinBee Rainbow Bell Adventure JoJo´s Bizarre Adventure Cave Noire Adventures of Hourai High Ancient Magic Tactics Ogre ~ Let Us Cling Together LUNAR Walking School Holy Umbrella: Dondera´s Wild!! Mystic Ark Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden Live-A-Live Metal Max Returns Dragon Squadron: Danzarb
Super Robot Wars
After the first SRW release, AGTP has made a clear habit of releasing other games in-between each SRW release. Rarely AGTP will release two SRW games back to back (only twice thus far). It would seem however the frequency of SRW patch releases has increased lately.
I'm hoping Gid burns through whatever SRW patches are left soon. There are far more interesting half-finished projects he's already started on. That's right, I'm a choosy beggar!

It's made that much worse by the fact that his work (along with all the folks that help with translating and whatnot) is very, very good! Waiting can be tough.

Ex The Great Battle games are sort of SRW-related since they also star all-star anime mechas, including some (all?) of the same in the SRW games. I know he still does release other things as well, but SRW has clearly been his main thing for a while now.

SRW has clearly been his main thing for a while now. Unfortunately. I've personally not met anyone on retro gaming forums who were fans of the SRW series. I'm not sure why Gid prioritizes the series so highly. I can only assume because he personally is a big fan of it.

I'm sure that, if you're a huge, huge fan of the properties represented, it makes a big deal. I don't how invested he is in those animes, but I guess the closest analog for me would be if you had a Marvel and DC mashup in the same game, and the games were actually pretty solid. I'm pretty sure much of the main series is considered at least competent.
I do want to spend more time with the later Great Battle games, though. GBV in particular seems calibrated to appeal to my tastes.

I have to assume he loooooves mecha anime, because most of the Great Battles games are mediocre, yet he did the whole series. But he must like the SRW games as well, otherwise I don't think he'd have spent so much time on them. I haven't met any SRW fan either, but some do pop up to thank him on romhacking when he releases them, so I know there are some. I tried a few of those games and they seemed like just the dullest, most formless SRPGs ever made - just giant (space) fields filled with units. And it seems like there's a million of these games. But there must be something in it for the people who do like it it.

toeiI agree the Great Battles games are entirely mediocre. I tried to get into a few of them, couldn't do it. I've also tried some of the older SRW games... yawn. Clearly what's selling those is the fan service. The Vita ones I bought, were due to them having really impressive battle animations. Which probably won't prove worth what I paid for them. Oh well.

If I'm not mistaken, one of USGamer's writers (Nadia, maybe?) loves SRW as well. I know they exist, but I don't see them talked about much for sure.
