It looks like it will be the way to experience that game. Huh, well I'm glad I've waited this long to play it then.

In case anyone wanted to play English-language Castlevania SotN on the Sega Saturn instead of the Playstation, that's a WIP thing now.

Seiken Densetsu 2 has received yet another English fan translation: www.romhacking.net/translations/5765/"Secret of Mana: Reborn is the first release of the Secret of Mana Script Augmentation Project. It is the first comprehensive remaster of the original game since its release in 1993. This patch features:
a complete retranslation of the original Japanese script, the first of its kind some minor alterations that clarify vagaries and inconsistencies in the text and the plot itself new events and content based on exhaustive research of authentic external materials, most of which were never translated into English memorable elements of both Ted Woolsey’s script and the Japanese script elements that were omitted from both the American and Japanese releases of the game the original American font
As a result, this script is almost twice the size of the SNES English release.
See the included Localization Commentary document (PDF) for in-depth notes on translation choices and more."Maybe it's the definitive English version now?

Sounds like they tried adding events and text based on stuff that was considered but cut during development. That's a lot of extrapolation to just try and re-create it yourself, and I don't trust some rando internet dude to get it right.

Game Boy?
Definitely not sure how the extrapolation will work, though. I tend to not think that stuff works out well, either. Just a straight retranslation of the original feels like it would be enough... just get someone that isn't overly literal, though. From what I've seen of Tom's work on the Ganbare Goemon games, I'd trust him to do a fantastic job if he ever took it on.

oops, somehow I thought it was for the original Seiken Densetsu and not SD2. Well, at least the rest of the post made sense.

Interesting, thanks for that protip. I'll download that patch. - Yeah guys I'm not so keen on the added changes made to this newest SD2 translation myself. But I figured I'd mention it regardless.
