That's the void in my Quintet experience. Wasn't it their last game too? According to Wikipedia: I don't have time to validate all that right now though. That's a nice way of saying Quintet haphazardly made it all up as they went along. "Let's do a dungeon crawler, eh... okay, howabout a more traditional action-RPG at this point, oh... now, now let's do a town sim thing next.... ooh! ooh! a scavenger hunt yeah!" Ugh. I did legit enjoy the first chapter where you go through the five towers. That part was solid.

Granstream Saga was indeed one of their last full games, as from the early '00s they mostly just worked as subcontractors for bit stuff. Seems like they were casualties of console generation changes; on the SNES, a small to midsize team could make an entire, high-quality game, but by 2002, that same team was just enough to do the sound programming on the PS2 port of some random game.

The Granstream Saga is the one I haven't finished, either. My brother has, though. I see it get a lot of guff, but I think it's a fine game, personally.

I haven't played the other ones yet, although I have them.
It sounds like I may need to prioritize those...

It sounds like I may need to prioritize those... I think the SNES Quintet action-RPGs are good stuff. That said, there are other SNES action-RPGs I'd prioritize over them. If you've not played Brain Lord, Brandish 2: The Planet Buster, Front Mission: Gun Hazard, or even Ys V... I'd play those over Illusion of Gaia or Terranigma first. (Yes I actually enjoyed Ys V on SFC.) Just my opinion!

Of those, Gun Hazard is far and away the best. I'm a broken record at this point, but I still think it's the absolute best game we didn't get in English-speaking territories. (Notice how I left myself some wiggle room for Terranigma there. )

(Notice how I left myself some wiggle room for Terranigma there.) Well you haven't beaten Brandish 2: The Planet Buster yet, so that's understandable.

I approve of all those games except for Gun Hazard, which is literally nothing but walking along straight lines and occasionally firing at things while NPCs spout pseudo-military nonsense for hours on end.

literally nothing but walking along straight lines and occasionally firing at things while NPCs spout pseudo-military nonsense for hours on end I think you're confused. We weren't talking about Metal Gear Solid 4.

Heh. Gaming tastes, whatcha gonna do?
Brandish 2 is still on my list. I'm definitely intrigued after really enjoying Dark Revenant.
