I had assumed FFTA's judge system was put into place to encourage diversity in strategy on behalf of the player. What concerns me about FFTA is its plot. Starting the game out with a snowball fight leads me to believe FFTA was designed for kids.

Its not as bad as the snowball fight would have you believe, but its also not the game's strong point, and it doesn't hold a candle to FFT. Its the sort of game I'd recommend for its combat mechanics and team building, not its character development, plot, or general tone. Not that its even close to as good as this game, but think something like God Hand. If you go into that wanting story and atmosphere, you'd be left dry. If you just want a capable engine to abuse, though, it might be fun!
