I have every intention of playing it before 2030. Maybe even next year.

If all goes well, in October, probably the week of Halloween. If all goes well.
I've been curious about D2 since reading previews for it in 1998 and I finally beat it. These things take time, you know?

These things take time, you know? Today I remembered there's actually three D games, if you include Enemy Zero.

They're grouped together as the "Laura trilogy", since they all star Warp's "digital actress" Laura. Or in other words, each of stars a blonde woman named Laura, though she's not the same person. I saw one person argue that D2 should have been called Enemy Zero 2 today, since there are no vampires and Enemy was sci-fi horror.
One little thing I thought was cool about D2's ending is the very last thing it shows is today's date and the current time, as per the DC's clock (or the emulator's). It ties into the 2000 New Year's celebrations part of the ending (the game came out on December 23, 1999 in Japan - must have been cool to play it right when it came out, with it taking place at that exact moment), as a way to suggest that humanity survived until now, thanks to Laura. It effectively reminded me how long it took me to play this game. It's as if the past acknowledged the present, in one small way.

Transparencies on the Genesis, no PPU color math needed.

Very interesting indeed. Sounds like it's pretty CPU-intensive to pull off, but in the right context (like a boss battle), it's a neat touch.

Me being at work not being able to listen is killing me lol. I gotta check this out when I get home. There was always something unique about the "Past" stage tracks. I don't think they were FM, but something different than the rest of the OST. And both US and JP/UK versions shared the same Past stage tracks. Here it is: tcrf.net/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_CD_(Sega_CD)

Just want to make sure you guys all know of SoRR right?
It really is like what Sonic Mania is to Sonic the Hedgehog (classic games), the ultimate "Best of" release of classic Streets of Rage all in one with new twists. You can mix and match certain settings between SoR1-3 that makes it pretty interesting in ways, run through all three campaigns with all the characters and new unlockable ones, and like Sega Lord X here points out the new remixes are actually incredible. I think virt and some now big time composers worked on some material here. I was hooked on 5.1, never new a v5.2 was out with some new additions and such.
I hit up some Sonic fan games recently too and they seem great like I expected. It had me thinking I should make a list of my favorite fan games and this one instantly came to mind, so worth a shout out again if you guys never knew about this one. I liked SoR4, but this blows it out of the water and pretty much feels like an official game.
