Hate to hear that. But it sounded like you maybe looked up way too much and got overwhelmed with a lot of minutia around the game, when a lot of that is stuff you shouldn't have stressed about.

I mean, it's a long game. You have to admit that much. And the way I'm playing makes it longer, since I'm being all super-stealthy. I'm already over 35 hours, and I've just hit the Vandenberg AFB. I'm practically already at the HLTB "completionist" time... and that's pretty much how I'm playing, too.

Haha yeah. Well, you're in the final stretch at least.

I don't recall my exact final completion time in Deus Ex, but do I recall it was over 30 hours. FPS-RPG!

I don't recall my exact final completion time in Deus Ex, but do I recall it was over 30 hours. FPS-RPG! It is absolutely that. Like I mentioned before, there are a few things I'd do differently kit-wise if I had another shot at it. I'd skip environmental resistance, and as nice as it's been in a few spots, I'd probably go with Run Silent instead of Speed Enhancement. It would make the process of whacking dudes much, much faster. Like, just make a headlong sprint at 'em and thwack 'em in the back.

I'd probably go with Run Silent instead of Speed Enhancement. Indeed, if you're playing the game stealthily and doing surprise knock-out attacks, that's a great modification to have.

I just always favor speed/jumping for exploration purposes. Or quick escapes! Now I can share this. Volume is a little wacky so keep it low, but this is too good:

So what is everyone playing this weekend?
On the retro side, I'm currently working on Ultima I.

Unfortunately I didn't play anything friday or saturday night. I've got two big projects going on IRL, that are eating a lot of my time and energy right now. One project is for my dayjob. The other is renovating our guest house. I did a bunch of physical labor outside on the guesthouse and on our property the past two days. Which wouldn't be so bad, except where I live it's currently in the 90s and averaging 80-90% humidity. Working outside in that environment is energy draining to the point where I don't even feel like playing a video game at night. I've got a lighter schedule for sunday planned, so hopefully I'll feel up to finishing PSO tomorrow night.

Dang, that is indeed all interesting to hear for sure then. I'll be curious to see how they turn out. Last night I put an hour and a half into this: Phantasy Star Ø - First released in 2008 in Japan.
Now, I'm not rushing to any conclusions, but I'll say this much; I had more fun in 1.5 hours with PSØ, then I did with 14 hours of PSO. I also saw more story and dialogue exposition in PSØ in 1.5 hours, then I did with 14 hours of PSO. This game's single player is thus far fleshed like a single player game should be. And guess what, you can save your game without having to quit playing entirely... what a novel concept. The anime cutscenes have been well done, you get to play with AI party members, and the graphics are nice considering its a 3D DS game. I'm cautiously optimistic this experience will provide for me what PSO did not. I went with a HUmarl character, as that was the equivalent to the HUnewearl I was using in PSO.
