The .hack games are some of the most expensive in the PS2 aftermarket. .hack Quarantine alone is worth $200.00+ CIB.

I know that's the concluding chapter, but I have to wonder why it is so much more expensive than the rest. Did it truly receive a more limited print run?

It's funny cause I remember the .hack series being pretty widely known at the time, and they always gave off a slightly shovelware-ish vibe to me. Well, maybe that's just me. But either way, I never expected this of all series to become valuable/expensive.

I never expected this of all series to become valuable/expensive. Tell me about it. At one time I owned mint copies of Rule of Rose, Blood Will Tell, and Kuon. Cumulatively those would be worth about $2000 today. I wish I could go back in time to 2007 when I sold them and kick myself in the nuts.

Wow, I never knew Blood Will Tell was so expensive. I like the game, but I keep it away from my game collection because I include it with my Tezuka collection: Same with Astro Boy: The Omega Factor (maybe my favorite GBA game):
I should look through my PS2 collection haha. I was big into purchasing PS2 titles as they were released or discounted and never got around to playing many of them. I figured since PS2 was such a "big" mainstream console it would not have a lot of expensive titles these days.
I guess it makes sense though, it is an "old" console now. For .hack, I would say it is a combination of Quarantine's low print run (if that is indeed the case) and the diehard .hack fans (for a dead franchise it has a decent number of followers) that drive up the price (maybe some who regret selling it years ago?). If IMOQ ever gets a port I am sure the PS2 price would decrease, but I wonder if that ship has sailed from the port haha.

I actually owned a copy of Blood Will Tell for a brief time. Had to return it because of read errors, but in hindsight, I should have held onto it. Ah, if only I'd known then about good resurfacing machines...

I did not like Astro Boy for the GBA. I just recently sold a CIB version. I had held onto it forever for its value, but I finally decided to get rid of it, too. I can see how a big fan of Tezuka would get a kick out of it, but I found the game to have little value beyond that, except for the shooter levels, which were fun but too bite-sized.
A Treasure fan I am not.

Yeah, there is a Treasure thread in the articles section and quite a few people do not seem to be Treasure fans (Edit: I just checked and actually I was thinking of the Panzer Dragoon Saga thread, guess people did like Treasure in that thread, also turns out I had already posted my Astro Boy game there also and forgot that too haha). For me they were an amazing company. I own most of their games.
Another edit after reading the old threads: Including saying Omega Factor was my favorite GBA game almost verbatim, in that thread two years ago I was also informed that Blood Will Tell was expensive haha. So that plus misremembering the consensus about Treasure, I guess the only thing I can be certain of is that I am growing old and forgetful haha.

Nothing to add except that Dororo was a really good manga, and that there's a NES RPG with a fan translation that has a very similar plot (a boy fighting demons to regain his true body parts one by one). I'm trying to remember what it was called... it has one of those semi-automatic battle systems where you can interrupt battles to give orders.

quite a few people do not seem to be Treasure fans. For me they were an amazing company. I respect Treasure's programming prowess, and their consistent efforts toward unique/unusual designs. However, the actual fun factor of their releases is very hit and miss for me. Their most darling title, Gunstar Heroes, is a technically impressive mess that bores quickly (though I've beaten it). My all time favorite Treasure games are Alien Soldier and Sin & Punishment: Star Successor. I understand why most folks don't care for Alien Soldier, as it's basically a (badass) boss rush for the entire run. Star Successor however, I think is ignored (especially by "hardcore" gamers) simply because it appeared on Wii and uses the Wii Remote. That's truly a shame, because Star Successor is absolutely awesome. Easily the best action game I've ever played on Wii. Easily the best rail shooter I've ever played period. It's a true shame so many action shooter fans ignore its existence.
