Based. Looks like a video game store. Always thought that "Zelda" G&W was the coolest.

Dang Kazin , you a secret YouTuber or something? lol A little beat up, but my hard earned allowance in 1998 or whatever bought this and I'll remind ya'll this is when N64 games were like $80 new. lol King's Field Testing out S-video on some late gen 4:3 Dell monitor I have that is pretty cool. My ancient boob tube, you can see warping at the top on both sides. Probably gotta ditch it next move. My old magazines I threw away two moves ago, was just too much in apartments moving around. But I regret it.
These are just the really random pics I have around of some stuff...

Very nice display cases setup Kazin , can tell it's all a labor of love. Basically have your own Game & Watch museum going on there man. Hope you track the rest of them down someday. Maybe buying broken ones and repairing them is the affordable solution.

Very late N64 era is when I started actually saving my game boxes and manuals, which sucks because otherwise I'd have a complete in box gold Ocarina of Time like you, Xeogred. I'm jealous lol. And no, I couldn't be a Youtuber, I can't use cameras to save my life lol How is the S-Video on that Dell monitor? It looks pretty clean from here, but the pictures are kinda small... RE: your CRT - that's why I want to look into the service menu of mine, not because I have warping (yet... *shudder*), but to maybe mitigate those issues if they ever arise. Might want to look into it if that thing is good otherwise! I gave all my magazines to a buddy and only kept a few Nintendo Powers (which, now that I think about it, I don't know where those are in the new house lol). I sort of regret it, too, but they were HEAVY. I had a ton of magazines from the 90s, primarily Game Players, Ultra Game Players, Game Pro, and in the late 90s/early 2000s, Nintendo Power. Just unwieldy to have them all. Someday I'm going to meticulously download and put all the various scans people have done of these old magazines on my phone/backup harddrive. Ex What is not like the others? Anticipation? Urban Champion? lol or just the Everdrives?

I actually have a more mint CIB copy of Majora's Mask. But I love showing off my OoT, haha... I scored a CIB copy of ActRaiser out in the wild once. But yeah those Nintendo cardboard styled boxes didn't hold up very well for me and my family moving around a dozen times growing up. The S-Video is pretty stellar, so yeah a phone pic can't really do it justice. Definitely looks better than upscalers I've used for HDTV's and my old CRT there has S-Video, but this might have it beat. I'll just have to find some external speakers to use sometime, and maybe that can be my dedicated PS2 setup. The smoothness stands out a lot too. But yeah for years now I've played PS2 games through component or some HDMI converter out of convenience. Yeah, I've spent a lot of time trying to find a manual of this TV online, tried a bunch of different button combinations on the remote... I think I could get to a debug menu, but it wasn't anything that could fix the screen. So it must be hardware behind the glass there. I had this TV in middle school, high school, lol. Body slammed it into the trunks of cars and such for Xbox LAN parties back in the day. I guess it's kind of sentimental and why I still have it, but it also has 5 AV inputs and S-Video... dang I wish it wasn't ruined. It'd be an awesome hub for all my retro stuff if I ever had more apartment space for that. But yeah the topped lines being warped ruins it now. Hopefully CRT's remain cheap and I can just get something else down the road, but I think I'll wait until I'm in a house now or something lol. Yeah that picture probably doesn't do it justice to how much magazines I had there and elsewhere. I definitely kept all my strategy guides though. And other really uniquely weird one off magazines or something. My main shelf: Side shelf, the PS2 and Xbox/PS4 mixed rows in the middle are my "To Play" shelves. I guess those were my favorite 360 games below, but I could box those up now... As long as my hobby's remained on mostly just these shelves, I don't feel bad about it at all. Plenty of stuff not pictured or out on display though: - All my GBA, DS, PSP games - Huge SNES collection (60+?) - Huge 360 collection (70+?) - Sega stuff I stopped buying NES stuff after burning through two toasters as a kid and selling my games too much back then. I stopped selling games around the 360/PS3 era, which I guess might look obvious. lol, but yeah retro wise I'm most proud of my SNES and PSX collections. I guess my PS2 set is pretty deep and good too.

Ooh, yeah, those are impressive. I got rid of pretty much all my disc based games (besides Wii, waiting for those to increase in value to sell them to fund my retro cartridge habit lol). Love the PS2 SMT collection, all really good games. PS2 is something I haven't played much for several years - I played the absolute crap out of it back in the day (like we all did, I'm sure), but now I only have a PS2 Slim and haven't gotten around to modding it/getting it to play games off a micro sd card. I wish there were a good ODE for it. But the CRT I have I only got a year and a half ago - I bet PS2 would look good on it as Ex says...
You have more PS3 and 360 games than I ever did, heck, that I ever even played, I think lol.

You have more PS3 and 360 games than I ever did, heck, that I ever even played, I think lol. And to think all the PS3/PS4 games on my big shelf are beaten! That's why I moved my non-played stuff to another shelf. Been using this system of mine for awhile now and helps organize/motivate me heh.
I was heavily active on the PS2, but being so big on 16/32bit JRPG's, I wasn't a fan of the changes and direction things went with that genre back in the day. I loved pre-rendered backdrops even as a kid but those were a thing of the past after the PSX for the most part, I missed them. Horrible voice acting in some cases (watched Star Ocean 3 at a friends lol) when I would rather just have a voiceless text box I can read at my faster leisure, worse battle loading times than before, and it seemed like everyone on the PS2 was trying too hard to re-invent the JRPG wheel and get away from simpler combat systems that just worked and had nothing wrong with them. I still get this vibe to an extent, but that's a lot of mass generalizing on my part because the PS2 library is a monster. I've finally gone back and have been chipping away at a bunch of JRPG's for it in recent years and am having a bit of a resurgence with this system. Lots of good stuff on there, just took me damn near 20 years to come with peace with the fact that one of my favorite genres changed, but has its own merits for that era too. Especially after last year hitting up SMT3 and DQ8? I can't imagine those being the same on the PSX.
- Xenosaga III / Trilogy - Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne - Dragon Quest VIII
- Final Fantasy XII - Front Mission 4 - Final Fantasy X - Shadow Hearts - Shadow Hearts: Covenant - Suikoden V - Suikoden III
A little hesitant to put the Digital Devil Saga's on there. Combat wise, they're better than PS2 Suikoden's and the Shadow Hearts games to me, but I think those two series have other cooler things going on and the DDS's couldn't measure up to SMT3 for me at all, that one set the bar too high. lol

My friend swears by the Xenosaga games, but I haven't even played Xenogears yet so I'll start there first lol. I really enjoyed the Digital Devil Saga games, but no, they don't hold a candle to Nocturne (or Persona 3/4~~~ lol). I've always meant to play the Shadow Hearts series as well - I somehow completely missed it back then, no idea why.

Xenogears is arguably better than them all in ways and an easier recommend/investment, as one full game. Definitely hit it up!
The Xenosaga trilogy is a bumpy ride of issues and not for everyone. It's Xenosaga III specifically, that I think is incredible and will probably forever be my favorite PS2 JRPG ever. But yeah, how do you tell someone to spend 50 hours playing two games to get to it? lol.
First game is still pretty cool story/character wise, but there's only one battle theme until the final boss gets its own theme, no dungeons have BGM... wtf happened, and the battles just take forever later in the game.
II falls on its face so hard completely failing to explain its own mechanics, but once a friend of mine online went as far as to make video guides for me to explain everything, it was really freaking good and fun haha. It tells one of my favorite arcs between some specific characters. But then in English, some characters had voice actor changes, while they changed back to the first games VO's in III... I'd like to play them all undubbed someday and see how that goes. But Albedo's English VO is amazing (he's a better Kefka I'd say).
But yeah III just does everything right and smooths out all the kinks, it also lets you character swap mid battle which I always love. Everyone is really fun to use. And like every single playable character has their own final boss rival. The whole second disc/half of the game I think is even more epic than Xenogears at its best. It's insane stuff.
I guess if some people nowadays play and don't like Xenosaga I-II, I'd still maybe recommend giving III a shot. Maybe it's fine on its own in ways. It does have a Bible sized database in-game that details literally every single thing imaginable about that world and recaps of the previous games. The scope is unreal. I really hope the Xenoblade's get back to space and that big in scope again someday. Even if the world is on the line and you tend to fight God of sorts in all the Xeno's ... but yeah. Xenosaga III felt like the UNIVERSE was on the line. lol, it's just breathtaking how epic it is for my tastes.
