I wish you all the best on your disc based collecting. Outside a few PC Engine CD games - which I'm terrified about - I've seen, in person, disc rot on one of my friend's Gamecube games, in his case Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I know cartridges will eventually degrade and become useless, but most people think that'll happen at least after I'm dead, which is good enough for me lol. Discs just rot too quickly for me to be comfortable dropping hundreds on, say, Xenosaga III.
As if the Sonic 3 OST stuff needed to get more complicated, haha... weird.
Was there anything else special about the Origins release? I wonder if the widescreen is good and not stretched. I keep wishing we'd get a console/modern port of Sonic 2 with the Hidden Labyrinth Zone, apparently some mobile version got that awhile back.
Realistically, I've been emulating the 4th gen and down for ages now, and I dabble a lot more into it with the 5th/6th gens lately (DuckStation is so good for PSX). I'm on my third PS2 and have weirdly had bad luck with them I guess, so that's just motivating me further to focus more on emulation. Those Slim lens/drives aren't very reliable. My rare JRPG/game hunting days might be over. It's all gotten complicated for sure by this point though. This old hardware is only getting older and the used market seems crazy for some consoles.

I think it really depends with discs. Some will likely last for quite some time, others won't. It really comes down to whether the factories produced them correctly, and stored properly.

Xeogred The widescreen is not stretched, it's full widescreen support - it's the main thing I like about Origins, actually. It's implemented very well, though some bosses get screwed up as a result. The first boss is designed for a 4:3 screen in Sonic 1, as you'll recall, so it being widescreen changes the feel and momentum of that battle. They also don't let you hit Robotnik until he drops his ball! It's really odd. I'm sure by now there's mods to fix the games, but it's ridiculous that's even necessary.

Now you're selling me on it out of sheer curiosity... but I'm shocked to see it's $40, that's double Mania's price. I should probably just replay the originals and Mania instead if I ever think about Origins.

It's worth playing, but I'd say wait for a deep discount, Xeogred. Deep. Lol

I also would like to see random decorations you may have, too, as these tend to be way more creative than my typical "here's a pile of games I own" posts lol: This is a vinyl sticker I got off Etsy, stuck to the side of my cheap bookshelf, which happens to be across from my Game & Watch display. Why yes, I am a Super Mario Sunshine fan and defender, thank you for asking! I love that game, and when I saw this on Etsy I had to grab one since it was like $8 shipped. I don't know how long it will be until my wife sees this (it just came today), but it's in the nerd room, which she can't redecorate per our pre-nup! (we do not have a pre-nup, just an agreement that I get the one room to myself lol) What sorts of nerdy stuff do you have around for decorative purposes?

Haha, that's great. I didn't hate Super Mario Sunshine, and feel I need to revisit it at some point. (I did finish it, and enjoyed the traditional, FLUDD-less platforming challenges the most.)

I invested a bit into some ideas like that in my first apartment: Here's an ultra rare Mario poster I've had for 30+ years, so I always keep it in some frame. I mean look at Bowser... who is that!? I can never find it online or anywhere for reference.
These are really old from a flip phone I think and my bed looks so dank and nasty, I swear I'm a clean freak actually. Just got some goofy angles on pics. lol
I don't have anything like this up nowadays, but they're stored away. The only decor I might have around currently is of the single guy man cave type...
Always been a poster guy though, so someday if I get a house or something I'm sure I'll have a crazy decked out games space. There are some extremely good services thesedays for custom prints and all. So the sky is the limit. I have a custom poster of this Xenoblade cover:
I'll probably go nuts and get a lot of custom ones someday.

There's just something about that old Mario and Zelda art that is just charming as heck. I love that Mario poster you have, as well as the Zelda ones (the one of the Master Sword from Link to the Past, especially). You want some off model characters, though? Check out this Donkey Kong and Mario in this ancient Game & Watch ad that I have in my display: Even the Game & Watch units look weird lmao
