Difficulty usually doesn't turn me off as long as I'm still having fun with the game. That said, fuck this game. Ah, yuck. I bought this lately. I think I knew it was bad, but I still intend to put it in my Genesis and try it. XD

I remember renting Chakan when it first released. I was so hyped for it (gritty hardcore dual sword wielding yeah!). After about five minutes I was tremendously deflated, what a waste of great source material.

Can I put a specific part of a game on this list? I love fighting the first six robots in Mega Man 1 for the NES, but Wily's Castle feels like an entirely different game. Especially this bastard:

I think the toughest spot of the Wily stages is that last boss rush leading up to Wily. Downright spiteful, that.
The secret to that boss is to use your Buster for the early bits while he's moving slow, then swap out to Guts for the fast ones for quick kills.

I can't think of a single "fight all the bosses all over again" situation that I liked. Every game that has it feels like its lazily recycling assets and making me do the same work twice. In Mega Man 2 the Wily Castle felt so much more enjoyable than Mega Man 1's. However, I preferred the six robots from Mega Man 1. If they could take the six robots from Mega Man 1 and combine it with the Wily Castle from Mega Man 2, I'd love it. (Is this a controversial opinion? Fans online seem to think Mega Man 2 is superior.)

Definitely artificial longevity. I love me some Mega Man, but pretty much every Mega Man game does this. Even the more modern stuff like the (awesome) Mega Man ZX games. It just seems overly punitive to me in this day and age. Although if you know which weapons which boss is weak too, it's not that bad.

Konami's beat-'em-up Vendetta makes you fight all the bosses again... 3 at a time. The game in general tends to be really easy, but this final level is pretty messy. Still a good game.

I have, but that game is more broken than too challenging. I've actually finished it, credit-feeding of course. I found one tactic that made it sort of playable - you have to draw enemies out one at a time, kick them when they get just within range, then quickly walk forward and punch them until they fall. If two enemies come at you at once, all you can do is walk around and throw a loose kick every now and then, otherwise you'll get stomped. It might be a little more playable with other players backing you up. The one fun part is finding a gun every now and then, because suddenly, you can just walk up to an enemy with no fear and kill them instantly. It just completely reverses the dynamic, even if it's just for 5 shots IIRC.

Definitely broken. I still like the way the game feels, though. I remember the Walmart about 20 miles away had the machine for a while.
