I thought Sarge had written an elaborate response about MW, immediately forgot about it, then posted another shorter response a few minutes later. Also III is not so different from IV, so if you like IV that much you should give it a shot. Agreed. It's a slightly rougher experience, but still quite similar in how it all plays out.

Forgot the goofy looking guy's name was "Master Higgins." Think that weirded me out even more as a kid.
Monster World IV looks rad. Think I'll jot that down on a list of games to check out perhaps next year.

For anyone that doesn't have it, Half-Life is free on Steam until 11/20.

Mr. Table Games is back. Deh-tails..... Both of these mahjong games were developed by Chat Noir, who almost exclusively developed mahjong games. Shin 4-Jin Uchi Mahjong: Yakuman Tengoku is Nintendo-published and a sequel to the original Yakuman (Game Boy launch title). You play as a Japanese mahjong champion traveling all over the world to take on the best mahjong players. The "world map" screen makes me think of Street Fighter II or something. The game's pretty good! And one of those chunky Fami carts which means it's "enhanced" (somehow). Now, an issue with mahjong video games is that offline 2+ player games are not especially feasible as, ya know, you could easily look at other hands. Thus, online mahjong arrived early with games like Tel Tel Mahjong. The "Mega Modem" service is of course defunct, but there is a single-player mode. Solitaire Overload contains a comical number of solitaire variants. I stumbled upon this in the wild. I can't pass up anything by Telegames. Such a strange developer.

When I was a kid I liked how the cards would explode when you won in the Windows version of solitaire.

Yeah that was peak Solitaire/Freecell. My grandparents used to keep logs of their scores on a scratchpad.

Not sure I'd class it as a deal, but I did get a few NES games at slightly less than eBay prices, assuming they survive the trip from Romania, haha. - Kick Master - Lolo 3 - Uninvited - Faria Ended up being just under $280, which sounds insane... but I'm also not funding all of it since the parents insisted on me finding something else. So total cost to me is $180. I've especially always wanted... well, honestly, I've wanted all of these a lot, so it will be pretty cool having them. I never came across any of them back in the day. I think Faria might be the only "big" ARPG left on NES I didn't have. But in this process, I did discover that Video Game Sage seems to have a pretty robust marketplace - I discovered it through Reddit, where a larger message board marketplace apparently migrated to this site.

I don't recognize Uninvited or Faria, but Kick Master is legendary. In 2019 I beat it on an emulator, but afterwards I got a real copy from a local collector who was selling all of his stuff.

Haven't thought of Faria in years. Back in the day when I wanted to beat every 8 and 16-bit RPG I booted it a few times and intended to get to it one day, until I eventually decided I didn't need to do that and didn't like most NES RPG anyway. I did beat most 16-bit RPGs that exist in English. The encounter rate is insane, literally every 2-3 steps. Maybe I'd play it otherwise. It's kind of like Sword of Vermilion minus the (partial) first-person view, in that it's random encounters but it takes you to an overhead action RPG combat screen.
