it sounded like you were saying it might have been made in China Despite being sold in Japan, every Buffalo SNES controller I've seen says it was actually manufactured in China.

Hmm, interesting. Now I know why you wanted the pic!

I missed the part where Ex wanted a photo, but yeah I laughed when I flipped the controller over and saw "Made in China". I'm pretty sure the box I got was Japanese though? Guess China maybe produces a bunch of stuff for them too. Some Amazon reviews emphasis that there might be some "knockoffs" but I have no idea. Everyone is confused!
Either way, love my Buffalo controller!

Either way, love my Buffalo controller! I own five of them. All bought from different places on the net. Some are the Super Famicom colored buttons, some are the SNES colored buttons. All of them shipped from Japan. All of them say "Made in China". I do not believe that Buffalo ever manufactured these pads in Japan, only sold them there. Regardless of where they are made, I love my Buffalo pads.

So the real question is, why FIVE?
I was initially worried about Y and X being rounded like the European/Japan originals instead of the US's concave design for those two buttons, but yeah it took like 5 seconds to get used to this thing and love it.

So the real question is, why FIVE? Because I'm insane.

I think having five controllers is probably better than having the ridiculous stockpile of systems I have... What am I going to do with four XBOXes?
(Spare parts, of course.)

Have you opened these up by chance? Been hearing the guys on the Bombcast recently talking about how some toxic fluid leaks out of some old Xbox's. I forget the specifics... mine still works so I want to pray and assume it's all good underneath. lol

Some of them, anyway. No idea. I've got one I had to bust into to swap out the DVD drive. I've got one system that is a total loss: dead motherboard. I don't remember if I threw that away. Probably not. One in active use, or at least as active as it can be (which means it gets booted a few times a year), and a modded one I got from a co-worker a while back. If I lose one... well, probably not the end of the world. I would love to take one and do a hard drive swap on it, though. Seems like it would be better to run stuff from the HDD for sure. That's what I do with my PS2 in most cases. (Yet another system where I have a ridiculous number of spares. I can't help myself, though, when I'm given them or see them for like $5-10.) I still don't have a spare N64, though. No idea how that happened, but there ya go.

One day, I unplugged it and the port inside the phone just fell off, followed by a bit of green liquid pouring out. It looked like the very definition of toxic sludge. I'm glad it didn't fall on me. Wonder what it was?
