That Baldur's Gate GBA game actually looks pretty decent.
I looked at the developer, it's a French company I've never heard of. The bio on mobygames says: "Magic Pockets is a development studio based in Paris, France. The team is comprised of people who have been developing on Nintendo handheld systems since 1994, beginning with the Game Boy Advance..." wait, what?

toeiYeah Magic Pockets has developed quite a few games: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/games/company/72309-magic-pockets?platform=0&year=0®ion=0&devpub=1A lot of it is licensed dreck (that paid the bills). Seems like their GBA era was the time they were most focused on games actual gamers might play. A lot of folks were impressed with Ghost Rider on GBA. Action Man: Robot Atak is a decent GBA action-platformer (or so I've read). And so far, Baldur's Gate for GBA has been pleasant.

So I haven't played Dark Alliance on GBA in like two weeks. Mainly 'cause whenever I sit down to play something it's still Red Dead Redemption 2. I've been working on some house projects in the evenings lately that eats up a lot of time. Not sure I'll be finishing any games for this theme this month as a result. Though I still plan to at least sample Treasure of Tarmin.

I've sampled a few games, like Dragonstrike on NES. Couldn't really makes heads or tails out of Hillsfar or Heroes of the Lance in the brief time I played.

I've sampled a few games, like Dragonstrike on NES. I thought I'd beaten that one before, but the game I was actually thinking of was Dragon Spirit. I'll have to check out DragonStrike then.

Dragon Spirit is a really good game - NES port is surprisingly solid. DragonStrike is interesting, but I lost pretty quickly. The game has passwords, though, so I figure it's just a matter of perseverance.

For those wondering, both of these are overhead NES shmups that star dragons with the name "dragon" in the title: Dragon SpiritDragonStrikeHence my memory's confusion on the matter.

That's funny. Always loved Dragon Spirit, the OST is ace too.
I may try to give something a look this long weekend. I still think I just have this innate aversion to D&D deep down since I had such a miserable time playing it with one group of friends in middle school...

I may try to give something a look this long weekend. I think you and Sarge both would enjoy this one if you played it: Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone (2004) available on PC, PS2, and Xbox.
I beat this one on PS2 back in 2018, gave it a 7/10. This is a 3D beat 'em up (or slash 'em up).
+Well written and engaging plot by R. A. Salvatore. +Narration by Sir Patrick Stewart. +Forgotten Realms theme is thoroughly realized and portrayed convincingly. +Above average level of difficulty even on Normal mode. +You get to play as Drizzt Do'Urden at one point!
Demon Stone allows leveling up characters with experience gained, as well as upgrading equipment with gold acquired. That said, Demon Stone's difficulty (even on Normal) is no joke, this is a tough game. (Or at least the PS2 version was.) But if you're looking for a challenging and rewarding hack 'n slash fantasy adventure, Demon Stone is a good choice.
