there is one spot that you do not want to die at, or you're in for bad times I know that spot. Because that is the spot I got stuck in the death loop in. And why I didn't finish the game.

Sometimes it's better to just start over from the beginning. That's how those games were meant to be played, anyway. In Valis 2 Turbo CD, you can save between levels, but if you start the final level without any power-ups the first section is ridiculously hard. I was completely stuck on it for a while, and in the end I just restarted from the beginning (which is not a big deal as these are pure action games that take under an hour to beat) and completely destroyed that final level because I made it there powered-up. The same thing happens in a lot of shmup with checkpoints.

Fascinating that we both seem to have stumbled on that same spot, Ex . Looks like they definitely missed that in their playtesting of the checkpoint system. Overall, I liked the game more than Strider, though.

Wow, Akihiko Yoshida... I finally put this together, the FFT, Vagrant Story, FF12, FF14, etc guy... is also the character designer for Nier and Automata.
Jokes aside, I've always admired his work in the FF series. But WOW, he has to be one of the most varied game artists out there, constantly evolving and can draw anything and everything. Some artists might have a really striking and awesome style but only stick to certain genres in a sense, but Akihiko Yoshida's broad spectrum of work is just absolutely insane.
Absolutely love his stuff.

I can actually picture him doing all his design work to Baby Got Back playing on loop in his headphones. Just playing it nonstop for his entire career and never getting tired of it.

Toriyama's peak period was definitely the mid to late '80s. He's been very consistent overall stylistically, but yeah I think this was the period where his work became more polished, and he still had the energy and creativity of (relative) youth. He burned out with DBZ and became a lot less active later.
