I improved your avatar. It's all cartoony pixels, it doesn't matter.

Fun fact: my avatar already isn't in the game native resolution. I had to upscale it a bit. Also, it looks stretched beyond what setting it to fullscreen: stretched would do. Either way, I played the game this way and had zero issues with it.

Yeah, seriously, we're just being silly. Play games however you feel like it! I'm not going to judge - everyone has their preferences, including what displays we use and how they fill the screen. Heck, I know some people that refuse to play on anything other than a CRT. Some folks even go down the PVM rabbit hole (which I'd also like to do, honestly).

It's a side-scroller with a moderate amount of platforming and some minor adventure elements. Definitely one of the better games on the system. His name escapes me right now, but he's a warrior monk / buddhist exorcist that only appears in some story scenes. He does fight in the original manga & anime, though.

Yeah, when I played through it for Game Gear month, I was like, "So that's where toei 's avatar came from!" I agree, it's definitely one of the better games on the system.

This Game Gear title's full name is Kishin Douji Zenki, and I have also beaten it (last February). I gave it a 7/10.

I am very close to just giving up on Shin Seikoku: La Wares. What started as a breezy little JRPG has turned into a massive slog. I'm near the end at only nine hours invested, but past the first two or three hours, you grind, beat a boss, grind some more, beat a boss, with very little exposition. Right now, it's just a giant sequence of them, and you have to grind up for each one of them.
