Yup, part two being localized. (well..... according to VNDB this is actually the third one, maybe the second one simply isn't being localized or they're going out of order)

Part 2 was this one, so I guess they skipped straight to the most recent one. I beat the first one and talked about it in January, it was okay and got a bit more interesting during the end, but I don't know if it was good enough that I would buy or want to play this one, unless I hear specifically that it's improved. The first had two much filler where you kept visiting the same places and talking to the same people for a good while before the story really took off. EDIT - Here's something I didn't know about The Ise-Shima Case: "It is a collaboration with the adventure game "Root Film" for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch released by Kadokawa Games on July 30, 2020. There will be hidden events featuring the characters of this work, Kaimyoji Ken, Hamamiya Zumi, and Nishizawa Kana. In the PlayStation 4 version, viewing a collaboration event is a condition for obtaining trophies."

Root Film is also connected to Root Letter (deeply discounted on Steam right now if anyone's interested), though I don't think it's explicitly called a sequel.

Weakest sounding p-shooter I've ever heard. Really generic music too. Looks neat otherwise...but I might be getting pickier and pickier with this genre at this point, even if it looks like a love letter to Metroid/Blaster Master with guns, which I crave more than the Igavania clones.

Yeah, a Metroidvania really has to be executed well for me to stick with it. Really unpolished ones aren't necessarily worth it anymore. A really odd one that I beat some time ago, and isn't really available anymore as far as I know, was Project Black Sun. Pretty cool Metroidvania (when they weren't overflowing!) that was also very challenging, and had some interesting quirks like limited ammo on the handgun and the need to reload, adding some strategy to fights. www.gamepressure.com/games/project-black-sun/zf3309

SargeI vaguely remember Project Black Sun, looks like it released in 2011. Yeah that was a little before the massive 2D metroidvania indie boom, so a harbinger.
