Seems pretty cool. Funny that they're using the Commodore 64 to make a game partly about cellphones. I guess they're trying to keep the C64 alive rather than produce nostalgia bait.

Wait... is Paprium actually going to happen? After all these years? It wasn't just a scam to take my money? Gosh, I hope so.

Had to re-research that one, the trailer is from 2017 but it seems familiar haha.
Looks and sounds freaking awesome. If it feels good like SoR2-SoR3, I need it now!!!

Counterpoint: it's going to suck ass, with extremely long levels that bore you to tears and the amateurish feel of Pier Solar, just applied to a different genre.
On the other hand, if it does come out, it may help prove that vaporware "scams" are much less common than people think, and should more often be attributed to amateurs getting in over their heads while trying to develop the best game ever without the skills, experience or talent, rather than bad intentions.
Though I'll admit that one in particular really looked like a scam.

Yeah, going radio silent like that and all the other junk Fonzie pulled is a good way to have folks think you just took their money and ran. Sounds like he might really have been over his head. If I've learned anything, though, consistent transparency is the way to handle that, not falling off the face of the earth.

I was going to post this email I just received minutes ago: When I finally reset my password to log into my magical game factory account I saw that I had pre-ordered this game all the way back in 28 March 2017!

Yep, that's about the same time frame I did. I wasn't aware of the game's already troubled history at that point. Figured I'd never see that money again. If it's even decent I'll be happy. toei : While I had some issues with Pier Solar, I actually liked it well enough. The only real problem with that game (other than a brutal stretch with no restore points) is that there really aren't any accessories better than the elemental ones. They cut damage so significantly that even when you pick up other cool stuff, it doesn't make sense to use them. They should have fixed that by giving multiple accessory slots. EDIT: Oh, hey, Pier Solar is retro now. Here ya go, my article from GameSpite Journal 12. I apparently liked it a good bit more than I remembered. hardcoreretrogaming.boards.net/thread/380/pier-solar-gamespite-journal-12

Pier Solar was one of the very first RPGs I played for a few hours and just abandoned. I made it to a very annoyingly-designed forest dungeon. At one point, you ran into a tree that had fallen over, and you had to make some kind of enormous detour to get around it. I decided I wasn't going to. Too many random encounters, overlong dungeons, uninteresting story and characters, ugly, amateurish "look-I-can-draw-manga"-Deviant-art-level art... And then I thought about all the times these guys had bragged about how their games was by far the best RPG on the Genesis, way better than Phantasy Star IV, etc. etc., only to turn in that mediocre piece of shit. Sure, it may have been better than some of the games SuperFighterTeam localized (The Legend of Wukong was atrocious, Blue Almanac wasn't good either), but at least they weren't as obnoxious.

Ha, funny that you mention that dungeon... that's the one I was talking about in my writeup. It was absolutely the worst stretch of the game. It's definitely better than Star Odyssey, but that did have some odd plot beats going for it, even if the rest of the game was a slog. Ex: Good meme. Honestly, though, I don't care how much they crow, if I finally get something from money I'd completely written off, I'm here for it.
