Ohh! I did mean I wish it was "Hold"... I need to go to bed. But that's great news knowing you can change it. Right in time for the last level, lol.

You gon' need it. You might be doing better than I did, not entirely sure. I have eight hours into the game, but I know I didn't spend all that time trying to beat it. I do know that a huge portion of it was tied up with the final approach run and boss.

To be fair I'm playing on Easy...
Not sure how different the difficulties are though. I read it's kind of minuscule between Easy and Normal. For some Steam/indie stuff I'll go for Easy when I'm just casually playing something but not seriously super invested. Well even on Easy this one is taking longer than expected haha.

I haven't tried Hard mode yet. I beat it on Normal the first time. Curious as to what the differences are, actually: life stock, maybe?

You gotta be kidding me with this last level Sarge. I still haven't even made it to the final boss... is there ANY checkpoint in this level? Maybe level 6 was an exception since it was a unique overhead stage.
The boulder (bodies) part when you're descending some slopes is super rough if you don't have any better weapons. I can get past that part now and where you fall in some nasty purple goo that slows you down. And the level just kept going and going throwing everything and the damn kitchen sink at you. I can just picture how much I'll rage when I finally get to the boss, die, then have to do this entire level again and again.

Yeah, the stage is actually split into two parts. My advice is try to have a weapon going into 7-2. I didn't, so it took me a while.
I do feel a little better, though, knowing that you've got some mad Contra skills and have had some of the same struggles I had. The fact that the game gives you checkpoints for each stage means they could ramp up the difficulty much higher than the NES Contra games.

Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition
I started playing this game back in March. I put a bunch of hours into it just messing around the wasteland. Then I went on a crusade to visit every single possible map location in the game. Woah was that an endeavor. I did eventually manage to visit every location in the Mojave. Then I completed the first DLC "Dead Money", and logged all its locations. I took about two months off from this game after that.
Now I've moved on to "Honest Hearts", which is what the screenshot above is from. This second DLC is rather massive, with a LOT of new locations to log. Once I do finish "Honest Hearts", I still have the "Old World Blues" and "Lonesome Road" DLCs to tackle, before finally finishing the game proper. I will probably take breaks in between each DLC. To stave off getting too burnt out again.
At this point I already have 87 hours logged into this game. And while I do respect and enjoy New Vegas, I certainly do feel burnt out on it at times. That's not really the game's fault. I don't think you're supposed to see every location on your first run. But you guys know I don't like to replay games - so it's a one and done for me. Especially for a game of this magnitude. I think if you tried to see everything and do everything possible in this game, you'd have to put in 300 hours at minimum.
For now I'll get back to "Honest Hearts" and try not to get eaten by mutant bears.

Glad you're digging it, but yeah, games can't go on forever. I've beaten New Vegas twice and on my last PC run, I only did the Honest Hearts DLC. I tried some of the others in the past and didn't like them, so that's enough for me. Clocked in 46 hours according to Steam. On the 360 I beat the main campaign after 30 hours and moved on.
That's me though and clearly why I've never cared for MMO's.

I'm at the very end of the "Honest Hearts" DLC now. Will probably finish it friday night. Since I planned to take breaks between the other F:NVUE DLCs, I've been considering what to play in the interim. Well, I haven't touched my PSP since last November, I figure it's getting lonely by now. And Valkyria Chronicles 3 is on my "must play in 2019" list. So yeah, I think that'll do. HLTB shows a 60+ hour completion time to finish just the main story. If this were any lesser SRPG series I wouldn't even consider it, but considering how much I adored the first two VC games (seriously the best modern SRPG series by miles), yeah I'll go for it. For those who didn't know, this game got a mostly complete English fan translation. As I understand things the main campaign is fully translated. The E2 exclusive missions and DLC missions, as well as the Encyclopedia and Newspaper entries, remain untranslated. It's been over five years since the last patch released, so I think it's safe to say the hackers have done all they plan to do. If you don't speak Japanese, this is it.

I've got this on my memory stick, but too many games, too little time! Definitely hope you enjoy it, though. I still need to play the first game; I'm tempted to roll with the remastered version if I can score it cheap.
