Since I'm obviously not going to get around to them before November, these are the other "horrorble" entries I was considering suffering:
I assume these are all suitably horrible "games". But I presently lack the compulsion to waste my life playing terrible games just for a laugh. (I did a lot of that in my early '20s though.) Honestly, I was never all that stoked for the "horrorble" theme anyway. It was chibby 's idea, and he hasn't even logged into HRG since Mar 5, 2019 at 4:07pm.

I'm sure those are the pinnacle of quality entertainment.
Anyway, I made some more progress in RE. Actually, I made a lot of progress. I'm out of the catacombs, have both of the octagonal metal objects, and am ready to roll to unlock that door. I actually saved back at Lisa's cabin, and had a full inventory when I wanted to pick up the other metal object, so I quit there around ten minutes ago. I made sure to look up when the disc change occurred, and I'm close enough that I'm running from the disc again so USB Loader GX doesn't mess something up. I'll probably consider just continuing to run off disc when I swap, too.
Killed a big ol' spider, the big snake is now pushing up daisies, and... well, I'm almost out of shotgun ammo again. One shot. Whee! Lots of grenades, though, and about 50-60 pistol shots, and magnum ammo that I'm saving for the end.
I died three times during all this, but only one saw me lose significant progress (almost an hour!). On the plus side, I still have two ribbons before the disc change.

Nice job Sarge , sounds like you're close to wrapping REmake up. I did put an hour into Fatal Frame II tonight. I've got 2.5 hours in it now. Thus far I think it's a good game. Although it's more spooky than scary, and it seems a lot easier than the first game. However it's got compelling exploration, and more interesting ghosts to fight against. Edit: I'll also add, the atmosphere is off the charts.

SargeNice work on REmake! You’ve got one more area to go before you wrap things up. By the way, I know Ex recommended the first two seasons of Twin Peaks, but let me just add that I find the movie and it’s third season to be outright masterpieces. It’s probably best if you’re well acquainted with Lynch first to fully enjoy it, but there’s nothing I’ve ever seen like it.

I looked up how long Fatal Frame II is. Turns out it's about 11 hours long, with 10 chapters. Presently I'm 2.5 hours in, with 9 chapters left. Well now, that's a lot of game left to finish for a genre I'm presently wore out on (after having previously finished two genre entries earlier this month). Forgive me Xeogred , but I've decided to save Fatal Frame II for next year. Don't get me wrong, from what I've played, Fatal Frame II seems solid. I've just had enough horror gaming for a while. It's become clear to me, that horror games are not a genre I like to binge on. So I won't be attempting that again. I think I'm good with beating one horror game per year. Maybe we should do something different next October guys.
I did manage to finish these for this month's theme at least:
Dead Space Kuon More power to Sarge on finishing REmake tonight!

Oh, man. You need to get on that. It is mind-melting. I'm still shocked anyone let Lynch put that on television, even if it was Showtime. Best thing on TV this past decade. And this past decade had an insane amount of great TV shows.

Guess what, y'all? I did it. I finished Resident Evil. Just in time! So, I'm going to start with the good stuff. I actually think they nail the vibe and environments with the game. I've seen what the original looks like, and this Gamecube version remakes all that and makes it look thoroughly modern, even if it game out two generations (almost three, now!) ago. There was a ton of love and care put into this, and it shows. I watched Stop Skeletons From Fighting's video today on horror remakes, and while I haven't played any of the others mentioned, I can see why this would be the tippity top. Ammo ended up being a slight issue; I'm still pretty sure I missed some shotgun ammo caches. I had to start leaning on the grenade launcher. And that turned out okay, actually. Most of the enemies that were left dropped to it in one hit, and I'd saved a pretty good amount of ammo for it throughout the game. And I had plenty of magnum ammo to use against Tyrant. Oh, right. Tyrant. Yeah, he totally killed me the first time. I didn't run fast enough, he raked me and then grabbed and strangled me to death. It was pretty ugly. Thankfully, I had a recent save, and I had plenty of save ribbons so I just redid a little bit more and burned up another just to be right at that fight, then used another (and another, once I realized I'd forgotten to do the three switches and backtracked to see what was there) before the escape sequence. Yeah, good thing I saved ol' Chris. Anyway, the last fight, I was ready for. He whacked me once with that super-fast charge of his, but once I knew it was coming, he didn't lay another finger on me. Popped him with magnum shots until I got that rocket launcher, waited until he was distracted, and blew him to chunky, meaty bits. So yeah, I liked this game, but I didn't love it. As Ex alluded to earlier, this game stressed me out tremendously. It wasn't a relaxing time at all. But I am glad I played through it; I know where the love comes from, even if I'm not quite as enamored. Much of that comes down to two things: controls and limited saves. On the first point, I got used to it, but I don't care how much folks claim to love the tank controls. I think they're just bad. That the content underneath is good enough to overcome this limitation is a testament to its quality. They could have done this with traditional/ DMC-style controls, and while it might have been annoying at spots, I think it would have improved how things played. Coupled with some pretty iffy camera angles (that admittedly look very, very nice), sometimes the game just feels like a chore to play mechanically. As for the second, well, it would just be better for my stress level if I could make a solid run, and not have to worry about whether I'm using too many save ribbons, and risk dying and losing a ton of progress because I didn't know when the next set would come along. I can't even imagine what it might have been like if I'd missed one or two; I'd be a jittery mess at the end. So yes, RE is an absolute classic, especially this remake. It just doesn't resonate quite as much for me, so I'll give it a 7/10.

Too late to ask, but did you try changing up the control scheme? The remake has more modernized analog controls and movement that might work better for some. Unless that's just in the HD versions. Heh, either way glad you liked it enough. Hope you hit up some of the sequels someday.

Xeogred : It's not in the GC version, just the newer remasters of that version. I didn't want to repurchase the game when I already had it on GC. I did download the other games on PSX. I'm also a little curious to boot up the original PSX version. Might save that for a look at the game down the line, see how different it is there. At least there zombies will stay dead! Probably less ammo to compensate, though.
