Heh, either way glad you liked it enough. Hope you hit up some of the sequels someday. Yeah congrats to Sarge on finishing a legit survival horror. Always good to push out of your comfort zone once in a while. I think Sarge would like Resident Evil 2 quite a bit. It's just a lot more... friendly than RE1. I'm talking about the original RE2 now, not the recent remake.

Ex : I will probably put them on my PS Classic. I'm actually tempted to buy the PS1 games; I always ignored them, but wouldn't mind having them in my collection. Right now, I have REmake, RE:Zero, RE: Code Veronica, RE4, and RE: Revelations (thanks, Ex !) in my collection. Oh, there's apparently a patched version of the first game out there that restores the censored content that was supposed to show back up in the Dual Shock version, but didn't. It also doesn't have the awful new "music" of the most recent release on PS1. Boy, that whole thing gets confusing. I mean, come on, Capcom, those games would be a patch today, not another $40 purchase!

SargeKnowing your tastes as I do, I think you'd enjoy RE2, RE5, and RE6 the most. I've beaten a lot of RE games, and I agree with Xeogred that overall it's a high quality series. It'll be cool to see you go through it all in years to come.

Yeah, I'm definitely intrigued enough to give the rest a chance. The most I'd played before this one was about three hours of RE4.
I forgot to mention my clear time: 11:11:13. Of course, once you factor in the reloads, the lost progress due to deaths, and so on, I'd wager that time is actually closer to 15 hours.
EDIT: So, let's recap: I didn't actually beat many horrible games. In fact, I only beat one... but hooooo boy was it bad.
Anyway, the list.
83) Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge (7.5) (10/6) (2.5 hours) 85) Rusty (PC98) (5.5) (10/13) (6 hours) 86) Castlevania Legends (GB) (5.5) (10/14) (1.5 hours) 87) Gargoyle's Quest (GB) (9.0) (10/14) (2.5 hours) 88) Last Action Hero (SNES) (1.5) (10/14) (1.5 hours) 89) Demon's Crest (SNES) (10.0) (10/19) (5 hours) 90) Resident Evil (GC) (7.0) (10/31) (15 hours)
So nothing in there that's utter trash except for Last Action Hero. Two average games, but for entirely different reasons (Rusty was super uneven, and Castlevania Legends was one of the most "meh" games I've ever played).
Four of these were new beats, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Castlevania Legends was one of the most "meh" games I've ever played. I agree 100%. What a let down after Belmont's Revenge.

Whoops, I completely missed these. I knocked out a lot for this month!
77) 8 Eyes (NES) (3.5) (10/1) (3.5 hours) 79) Kid Dracula (GB) (7.0) (10/4) (1.5 hours) 80) Street Fighter II (GB) (3.0) (10/4) (0.5 hours) 81) Akumajou Special: Boku Dracula-Kun (NES) (7.0) (10/5) (1 hour) 82) Shaq Fu (GB) (3.0) (10/5) (0.2 hours)

Here's the one to avoid Sarge , which is also the PSN version...
This is the one without the awful new music:
I really dig this one:
In a way I definitely think RE1 and REmake are a bit more "hardcore" than the rest of the franchise. I can easily see how some people might not love it. Most don't even bother with the original anymore and RE2 is a monstrous step up from it. So I can definitely see you enjoying some of the other entries more perhaps, then there's RE4 where the format changes with the perspective change. In that one while ammo might appear scarce, I'm pretty sure it's relative to the adaptive difficulty and how well the player is doing. It's an action game and nothing meticulous like the earlier style. But hey, it's an amazing action game at that!

SargeNice work this month! That’s a lot of games. Glad to see you wrap up REmake. It’s a great game if you like what it’s going for, but I can understand not being up for how stressful it can get. I’ll second Ex with the recommendations for RE2. It’s a far more streamlined and easier experience overall. And it’ll be an even smoother experience so you know what to expect from the series. I’ll also recommend RE5 and RE6 since they’re primarily action games. Plus, they’re co-op, if that’s something you like. I know they just released on Switch with gyro controls, so that might be a good way to experience them. I’ll still recommend RE4. It’s definitely stressful, but it’s focus on action might be more to your liking. You won’t get lost or run out of saves. You just have to manage ammo. That said, the game is extremely tense and rarely lets up. But if you can like a game like Doom, then this isn’t terribly different in terms of intensity and pacing.

I’ll still recommend RE4. I'll mention that RE4 is my favorite in the entire franchise, which is hardly an unpopular opinion. However Sarge has already bounced off RE4 a few times, that's why I didn't recommend it to him again. The downplayed survivor horror, and up-played action-adventure aspects of RE2, RE5, and RE6 would be more in Sarge 's wheelhouse. If he got those under his belt, he might have developed a taste for the series by then, and be good with the rest of it.

ExGotcha. And RE4 is probably my favorite when I really think about it, too. Definitely a top 10 game for me.
