Like you're getting at in the end there, this isn't our favorite genre for some of us. That has been confirmed for me, for sure. However I'm pretty stoked for Game Gear month (February).

Has anyone (other than me) given Kickle Cubicle a shot? I think a few of y'all might enjoy it.

Has anyone (other than me) given Kickle Cubicle a shot? I think a few of y'all might enjoy it. I played the NES port a few years back. I did think Kickle Cubicle was fairly fun initially. But I got tired of its repetitiveness before finishing the game. I'm definitely not saying KC is bad though, it's solid 7/10 material. I wonder if the original arcade version is much different?

They're somewhat similar, but the NES version is a lot more forgiving overall.

YYYYYES. Finally. I've been playing this game on and off for a month. Got up to a lot of Panic Mode in the past week or so. It's basically just one unending level where the bubbles never stop coming, which brings it a little closer to falling block puzzles, in a way. Anyway, really solid game. Mostly action, but a little puzzle too. EDIT - I took a look at Expert Mode just to see what it's like. The levels are so different they're basically new levels, and the action gets frantic really quickly. I don't want to get into that after spending all that time on Normal, but I'm really impressed by how much value this game has to offer. If I had to rate it, it's at least a 8.5. EDIT 2 - I did a run through Easy Mode. Again, a lot of new levels, and a few that are more like variations of Normal's. It really is easy though, and it moves really slowly early on, so it was a little boring until about 2/3 through. The fancier bubble types don't appear at all in this mode, and there is no snow. The later levels are cool, though. Some of the levels seemed familiar - this is probably the mode we played most often as kids.

toeiNice job on the beat! Sounds like it was a pretty tough game. How long do you suppose it took to finish?

Ex It's hard to estimate. A while back I realized that there's a limit to how much I can improve in a day, even if I just play a game over and over, so most days I would just play one game (which is maybe 45 minutes) or two. But there are days where I played more, and I definitely spent a few hours on Panic mode, which is a pretty good way to train. So I can't say for sure. Definitely over 10 hours. Sarge It's definitely tough on Normal, but on Expert the game is absolutely insane. At that difficulty it's one of the fastest and most frantic action games on the SNES, and you have to be both methodical and very precise among the chaos. I have to say, I'm glad for this theme after all, because I probably would have never bothered to try and finish it otherwise (even though I looked back on it somewhat fondly from back in the day), and this is really one of my favorite action games on the SNES. I love games like this that take a straightforward concept and just push it as far as it can go. There is more level design that is apparent at first, and later levels require a certain amount of strategy and puzzling out, on top of the action skill.

I think I may have just gotten my highest ever Tetris score. I think I may have busted 500,000 just once before, but I'm not sure.
