Pretty sure toei is the ultimate action-puzzle game master around HG101. Keep this up you might end up with a new tag!

To mess up such an empty space they must have been dropping down instantly? lol Once it gets to a certain speed your only chance is to keep the stack really low at all times and only go for a Tetris if the opportunity presents itself, because even if you start pressing right or left as soon as a new piece starts falling it'll be pretty low before it makes it to the either end of the screen. Eventually I had one misdrop where I was trying to be too precise with the controls (giving the D-Pad little taps instead of holding it) and by that point it seemed impossible to do anything.

*whistles softly* Dang, man, good job. I bow to the Tetris master. What's scary is that actual Tetris Masters know how to Max Out the score now, and I've read there's at least 20 people in the world, probably more, than have reached 999,999 points. So to them, a little over 500,000 is like child's play. Then again, I never tried to study the more advanced techniques competitive players use or all the knowledge of the game that's been accumulated in recent years, and I don't have it in me to be a competitive player, anyway, cause I like to vary what I play, so... I'm still happy with that score. It's a good layman score, I think.

toeiI'm willing to wager you're in at least the top 20% of Tetris players in the world at this point.

"Layman", indeed. Seriously, I'd wager you're not far away from maxing out that score yourself; it probably just needs that strategy adjustment you mention. Apparently someone maxed the score in only 207 lines cleared, and you're not far off of that. To some degree, though, I understand your sentiment. I feel similarly with some of the Street Fighter games (much as Ex does, I'd wager) - a bit more work and I could be competitive in tournaments. But I've never taken the time to really get good at combo strings, in particular, which makes me not nearly as good as I could be. I play too many games to want to invest that sort of time.

Well, to max it out in just 207 lines, you have to start from Level 18 or 19 (which I've just learned yesterday how to do - there's a little trick to it), where things get really, really fast. This is because the higher the level, the more points a Tetris is worth. I've always started out from Level 9 because it's the highest one you can pick without a trick (which is just holding B and pressing start over one of the levels to add 10 to it). The highest speed level I've reached from 9 is 20, and things were just crazy. But who knows.

It does sound absolutely bonkers. I suspect the pieces are pretty much free-falling as if you were holding down at that point.
