I will point out that I own multiple Ace Combat games. And still haven't seriously played a single one. Hey now, I put a few hours in combined across all those King Field's! And still fail to recognize their magnificence!
I'm glad we don't all like the exact same things. Affirmative echo chambers are boring places to be.

And still haven't seriously played a single one. I can't argue with that. Perhaps one day! I even made sure to order your favorite entry so I'd be ready to roll - thankfully it was quite cheap on eBay.

I've generally heard really good things about that series and the new ones, along with them all having great stories. Seems intriguing to me. I know the composer is really legit too and he even scored a few tunes on FF7R more recently (guess he went freelance a few years ago but still works a lot on Ace Combat).

Yeah, I think I'm done with Mickey Mania. It looks gorgeous, and has some really cool programming tricks (check out Gamehut for how a lot of it was done!), but it's brutally difficult (limited continues), lots of tough jumps and untelegraphed hazards, and feels pretty sluggish and floaty to play. I know there are fans of the game, but outside of the animation and the jaunt through Mickey history, I can't see the appeal of this over the Capcom-developed SNES games.
EDIT: Well, maybe I'll jump back in at some point - looks like there's a level select code so I could get through the rest of the content.

I've generally heard really good things about that series and the new ones, along with them all having great stories. I've personally beaten all of these entries:
Air Combat (PS1) Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere (PS1) Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies (PS2) Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War (PS2) Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War (PS2) Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception (PSP) Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation (360) Ace Combat: Joint Assault (PSP) Ace Combat: Assault Horizon (3DS) Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy (360)
As far as AC plots go, they range from "OK" to outstanding in this series. It varies per entry. As does the quality, but in general AC games range from good to amazing. I'd only cite Joint Assault as being a truly bad game. If someone were to only play one game in the whole franchise, my vote is AC5. Just an amazing series. But decidedly not mascot platformers, so we digress. untelegraphed hazards, and feels pretty sluggish and floaty These are common problems I encountered in non-Mario/Sonic mascot platformers. I especially hate unavoidable hits and traps. Treating your player so rudely with no remorse is just bad game design.

Hey now, I put a few hours in combined across all those King Field's! A few hours is exactly how long it takes to pull off a single sword slash in any given King's Field. ok, I'm just trolling Ex here.

EDIT: Okay, that's Mickey Mania done. My opinion is... meh. It looks gorgeous, but I don't think it plays terribly well. I'd probably give it a 5/10. You've played better, you've played worse, but unless you're desperate, I'd just skip it.
