SamIAm and CyberWarriorX are upset that their work was released in its current state, and say they have a 0.9 version, and that eadmaster didn't contact them about this release. While I share some sympathy for them, it was released in GPL2 form, so derivative works/forks are okay and to be expected. Plus, I know SamIAm and CyberWarriorX have been busy with real life, but it's been ten years. I think getting upset that someone built on your older, publicly-released work is bad form. |

Well drama be damned, we've waited too long for this game in English. I for one will gladly take what we can get:  Princess Crown is a Japan-only Saturn action-JRPG originally released in 1997, it now has a somewhat* full English fan translation patch: github.com/eadmaster/pcrown* all story events and names translated using a fixed-width font

needs play testing for bugs

Oh, wow, getting the second Popolocrois fully translated is great. I have the PSP game, but as noted, it smashed the first two games together and cut a lot of content. And it apparently had an iffy translation.

Just to be clear, there are now two full English fan translations for this game: www.romhacking.net/translations/6457/-This translation project is fully playable and is only marked otherwise because there is machine translation for all random NPCs that are not tied to story progression in any way. All gameplay elements (menus, items, abilities, etc), cutscenes, and progression dependent dialogue have been fully human translated into English. romhackplaza.org/translations/popolocrois-monogatari-ii-english-translation-playstation/-This translation was based on the above translation, but the translation team consider this one a new patch, not an updated version. |

Very interesting re: PoPoLoCrois 2. Wonder if this patch has the amateur dub bullshit going on, or if that was just for the first game. It'd have nothing to say about if it were optional, of course, but there's no way I'd play it like that. I already hate pro RPG dubs...
PoPo PSP sucked. It was one of many old-school RPG disappointments for me on that generation of handhelds (though at least there was the amazing Growlanser IV, and I've found better games on both platforms since). But maybe that's down to the weird mashup thing they did. Or maybe the fairytale tone is not for me. If this patch looks legit, I'll probably give this one a shot. Maybe it's good!
I'd forgotten how great Princess Crown looks in motion. Those Saturn sprites. Beautiful.
