That looks pretty cool. I'll keep it in mind for whenever I feel like playing video games again.

I'm definitely in favor of more PS2 translations. Very cool.

I'm definitely in favor of more PS2 translations. Very cool. Makes me hopeful this will get translated someday: That one's my PS2 holy grail to play in English.

Hungry Ghosts has some very interesting credits, though I suspect that's truer for me than pretty much anyone else. The biggest name is former Capcom game designer & producer Tokuro Fujiwara, who's the director & executive producer here; he was a producer on tons of Mega Man games, but his most relevant credits genre-wise are as producer on Resident Evil and creator of Ghosts 'n Goblins. But what jumps out to me is the appearance of Deep Fear & Extermination author Yuzo Sugano as sub-director, and future main Vingt-Et-Un Systems game designer Naoya Furutani as a planner. 21 Systems (let's call them that for simplicity) were the only developers within the Simple line of games that I actually respect; they made Splatter Master, Yakuza Fury, Adventures of Darwin, and Zombie Virus/Zombie Ambulance, among others. The first three are legitimately good, overlooked rough gems that I wrote about at HG101 about 2 or 3 years ago, while Zombie Virus gets a bit boring but is still an original and interesting game. It looks like Furutani started out at Fujiwara's previous company prior to starting DeepSpace, Whoope Camp, where he worked on Tomba 2.

toeiThanks for the info. Doesn't surprise me that Hungry Ghosts has a respectable pedigree. It's a damn shame it was never brought to the west.

The 2004 action-adventure Japanese-only game Vampire Panic has received a full English fan translation: I'm liking this trend of PS2 fan translations lately.

I watched videos of it to try and get a sense of exactly what type of game it is and I'm still not sure. Apparently it has to do with protecting villagers, and in the gameplay you always had an NPC accompanying you and a Stress meter. I don't know if it means the whole game is literally an escort mission, though.c

I'm not a big fan of the source material, but it's always nice to see a WonderSwan translation.
