For this month I've began a playthrough of the original Shinobi on the Switch. It's a lot of fun and I will finish it soon.

G-Darius is actually better than it looks in screenshots, I recommend.
The 2-player is fun as well.
That said, it has a real Japanese vibe to it (with all the fish-like mechs)

Is someone a bad person for not loving the Gradius series? Asking for a friend.

I like the three classic-style Shinobis a lot. (Shinobi, Shadow Dancer Arcade, and Shadow Dancer Genesis, which are entirely different games)

I have to admit, Shinobi arcade has grown on me quite a bit. I don't love it, but it's good.

Should have been on "Missed classics"

Chema Oh, that makes sense. I'd assumed you misread 1997 as 1987, haha.

Thunder Force IV trumps them all though.

Personally, my favorite of the series isn't technically a Gradius game - it's Life Force, which I think is splendid on NES. Oh, wait, I was also super impressed with Gradius II on NES.

Yeah, I would have liked a few more Salamander games.
