Pretty sure Sarge is a fan of that one or at least beat it. That's how I feel about The Scheme. Bet I'm the only one on HRG who's played (and finished) that one.

Yep yep. I like Cosmo Police Galivan quite a bit. Very solid game, at least a 7/10.

Forgot about this bastard: Lotta folks have been suckered into playing this as it has a loose connection to Bubble Bobble.... Problem is: Chack'n Pop sucks. Slow, weird clunky controls, and way too hard. There's this obnoxious gravity-defying "flip" mechanic in lieu of normal jumping and instead of attacking enemies directly you have to lay bombs that go off seconds later. It's bad.

I like the box art but yeah the game design sounds like poop.

It's actually one of a handful of games that ended up on the Fami and SG-1000. The Sega box art is cool too.

Indeed the SEGA artwork is even better. Takes me right back to the '80s when games were just meant to be fun and nothing else.

Haven't picked on Capcom yet. I like their early catalog but this was a turd: Ugly, shrill, and seemingly never-ending. To shift to Game Arts in their pre-Lunar days, This somehow got ported to 10000 systems despite being a huge piece of crap. It's ostensibly some exploratory run and gun but it's largely incomprehensible. Also, this is the ending:

Yeah Thexder's not great. It originally appeared on the NEC PC-8801, and was indeed ported to a surprising amount of platforms: Amiga Apple II Apple IIGS FM-7 Famicom MS-DOS MSX Macintosh NEC PC-8001 NEC PC-9801 Sharp MZ Sharp X1 TRS-80 Color Computer 3 As a result of so much exposure, it sold well enough to get a sequel: The sequel only appeared on MSX2, MS-DOS, and PC-8801. Surprisingly, both Thexder MS-DOS versions got officially licensed and localized.

Yeah Sierra had a phase where they were bringing over Japanese games. See also: Zeliard and Sorcerian.

Square you do not get away unscathed: One of the worst games of all time. A clunky ass shooter with inexplicably weird requirements for completion. You basically need to assemble a perfect run, collect all hidden items, and then complete a final stage that demands a very specific pattern of timed shots. Dreadful. It all looks and plays like ass too.
