Surprisingly there doesn't appear to be any Tenchu games on PS3. toei may be mildly interested in Genji: Days of the Blade, given the aesthetic, and it's a PS3 exclusive. Though it only holds a 55 on Metacritic if that matters. There's also an Afro Samurai game on PS3.

Yeah, the PS2 Genji was... alright. It didn't feel like a tight character action game to me at all, very floaty and strange. Whenever I look into the PS3 one, it looks even weirder and like more of a tech showcase than anything. Who knows though. Sarge: Yeah Nero is pretty amazing once you embrace his playstyle. I forget if toei has access to a PS4 or not, because if so, then DMC4 Special Edition is the way to go. You can play the entire campaign as Lady, Trish, or Vergil. The amount of depth each character has is kind of crazy, like a full game worth of complexity per character. For me I think Vergil is the single most coolest character to play as in the entire genre. His moveset is crazy with how much his weapons can seamlessly switch over and instead of guns, he has summoned swords you can do all kinds of crazy things with. Definitely what you would call "Expert Difficulty" in player skill/control though haha. Trish is pretty tricky too but also awesome. Plays like a remixed Dante in ways. And then Lady is ALL guns, so completely different in a fun way. Looking forward to running through DMC5 again with Vergil sometime.

I liked the PS2 Genji a ton. The PS3 entry, on the other hand, is pretty meh.

Yeah, that was my impression too. I'm definitely playing the first Genji, not especially interested in the second. Ex Tenchu went with the Xbox 360 & Wii during that generation. The final game, Shadow Assassins (aka Tenchu 4), also had a PSP port. It was the first Tenchu made by Acquire since Tenchu 2 (there a number of random games in the middle, but I guess they decided to only count the first PS2 entry as 3). I'm going to try one of the K2 LLC entries at one point, but I don't know if they're good. Tenchu's been dormant since 2008; Sekiroh is rumored to have entered development as a Tenchu game.

Gears of War + Character Action with guns basically...
It's very cool. Shinji Mikami tried to make the cover shooter genre better and more fun but unfortunately it was an anomaly.

I've beaten a lot of cover shooters from the 7th gen. Vanquish is the best one, and it's not even close.

I'm suddenly interested in Deadly Premonition. I know the gameplay isn't supposed to be great, but just watching random scenes and reading about it, it seems really cool in other ways. Shame there's no easy way for me to play it. There are tons of reports of the PC port being unplayable with all the crashes and bugs, even recent reviews. The Switch version, too. For the PS3, it seems to depend? Some people have few issues, aside from frame rate drops (which I think I can deal with). My laptop isn't quite beefy enough for decent PS3 emulation, though.
It's funny cause it's been discussed here multiple times through the years (I did a search), but it just never registered for me. All along I thought you were all talking about a PS2 sequel to Kagero: Deception or something like that, not a game in which people eating bad sandwiches to punish themselves is discussed.

I think the only place I have Deadly Premonition is on PC. Not something I'd buy separately, so I'm sure it was part of a bundle I bought.
